People spying on loot and raising drama when you don't want to trade and say you don't like spies

And so all addons allowing to see what others looted should be permanently banned. if I cannot see dps that most yelling kids perform, of course blaming others (so I can properly kick them because they underperform), no one should be able to see what I looted. I mean... I get it, they're frustrated but kicking people from dungeon only because they said they don't like spies (!!!) and they don't trade stuff because they need it, well, means straight welcome to my ignore list. And that list is limited. And those kids are everywhere. Kindly remove such addons and let people get back to more civilized interactions, such as announcing at the start of dungeon that they are looking for something specific.
Honestly, before pandemic ESO was so much more pleasant, now there are more and more entitled kids bored with their life. So sad.

I'd try not to be so personally offended by it, and just say no. It's easy to say no. I get why you feel like it's weird for them to message you about an item you got. But saying something like "I don't like spies" can come off as more aggressive and accusatory than asking for an item someone else has in the first place. I'm not sure if it's constructive to bash random groupmates on the forums. Hopefully you have better dungeon runs going forward.

You can just say you need the item, instead of something else. It's an understandable reason and it ends the conversation usually.

There's always that 1 guy who will follow you around asking for whatever, even after you tell them you bound it (because yes I really did need that Siroria Inferno). I don't mind if people ask, but annoying me after I tell them I am not giving up that piece is what makes me block them.

What's the worse they can do, keep whispering you? Oops I deconstructed it!

Say no, then block them if you don't want any further interaction. There's no need to elaborate or antagonize them yourself. ZOS does allow those addons, after all.

A lot of players use those addons politely and responsibly. The few who don't give the rest a bad name.

If I had my druthers, my preferred compromise is that ZOS would make that portion of the API anonymous by default like they do for DPS so that players could see what had dropped for everyone but not see who had it. Then we'd have to ask politely in group chat and no one feels directly pressured to give up their item. Players who use the addon might feel that curtails its usefulness too much, but frankly, removing the individual targeting of the player with the item you want would go a long way to stopping the interpersonal conflicts that happen when someone gets too pushy or refuses to politely accept a "No" answer.

I used to feel offended by people snooping on my drops. But now it seems like everyone does it, so I just don't care. If I don't need something, I'll gladly give it. If not, I just say I'm sorry but I'm going to keep it. If someone is an ass (which rarely happens), I block them. End of story. Whatever the case, saying provocative thing back at these people generally just creates more grief, and who needs that in a video game.

Eh, just ignore the whisper? I mean, why even respond? Of course if you don't need or want the drop, you can give it - but keeping it to decon is certainly something some people would do.

I just wouldn't reply at all, and block the individual. Don't respond. That just escalates.

Sometimes it does bother me that others can check in on what I drop. I did 1 run of nMOL with randoms and got an Alkosh ring, got 3 to 4 whispers in a matter of seconds asking for it.

Politely declined as I do not appreciate them checking in on my drops, and said that If I wanted to share I would have linked it at the end of the run. I ended up keeping it, just because.

Petty for sure, but it's my loot and I decide with who I share it. Just say no, they can raise all the drama in the world, doesn't really matter in the end.

That add on should not be in the game. Never give anything too anyone that uses it.

I usually just ask for pieces from a set in group chat and offer a tip its up to the other group members if they want to trade or not, I can see what they got in there drops but don't go whispering or chasing after them.

The only reason I even have an add on that lets me see others drops is because it became a needed dependency or some such by a bunch of other add on's I already had, if those add on's worked without it I would uninstall it.

If conversation doesn't end after this and they are annoying you, just add them to ignore list (short therm or long therm). Problem solved.

In my opinion that addon is rude, and people using it and asking me if they can have what the boss dropped for me, before I even get a chance to loot the boss myself to find out what I found, are rude. It's an addon that promotes rude behaviour. If I find anything I'm not keeping, I'll let group know about it at the end of the run. People who expect me to just drop everything to reply to their requests mid-run, will be ignored for the remainder of the run by me, and if I don't need the item, I'll also make sure they are placed in the back of the line for it by the time the run is over. Simply out of spite for that entitled rudeness.

Something that is literally standard in other mmorpgs is considered rude to you? Im not sure that you know what the word entitled means. Bro if people need a certain piece of loot then they will for sure ask for it. You know what I hate in my mmorpgs? Communication with other people in my groups. [snip]

That addon also allows me to link everything I got that I don't need with one simple command.

To be honest the only rude and unappropriate thing I see here is to call someone a spy because a person saves time by using an add-on, looks kinda passive aggressive. Luckily I've never encountered such folk and simple item trading isn't something forbidden for a majority of players.

I don't feel offended, I feel amused, surprised, often annoyed by how low people go just to troll others. And tbh, I believe I can say I don't like spying in my pockets when the person is repeatedly trying to convince me they need that loot more than me. I say no, they don't get it, I keep silence - until that one moment too far that simply crosses the border. It is more about how people are absolutely rude when they hear "no". And why would my opinion on spy addons be less important than their entitlement, in their eyes, to get that item from me? They can harass me but I cannot express opinion?
Nevermind then. Keep the addon but also allow me to say, if I feel like it, that no, I do not like spying in my pockets. And yes, I will call toxic everyone who for that reason kicks me from dungeon in the middle, after I repeatedly said "no" and they still trolled me.

You totally didn't get my post, alright. Passive aggressive when I say what I think, cool. What kind of politically correct pseudo world we live in. Nevermind.
