I enjoy fishing in this game and there is always a nice scenery to enjoy. I completed my Master Angler on my main character so there is no need to fish as much since I did it mainly for the boat, but I do enjoy the occasional fishing break when doing nothing else or waiting for something to happen.
Hear me out.
Everyone hates filleting fish.
Everyone. Even those of us who play on PC and make use of an addon for filleting stacks of fish, hate it. It takes forever. It puts the entire game to a grinding halt and this is after having spent the time fishing. Poor console players have to wear their gamepads out entirely through repeatedly pressing a single button 200 times for just one stack. Imagine going for Master Angler on console and also wanting to make use of all that fish for the Perfect Roe - a very useful ingredient! - after being done with a zone.
Like bruuuuh. For real.
Now, imagine if we could instead have an
amazing event entirely centred around fishing!
You would have an NPC who would give you a daily quest - something like fish 10 fishes to get 2 event tickets when you come back to the NPC (the fishes required for the event tickets would be a "trade", so the ten would disappear from your inventory - if you had more than ten you could use them the next day for more tickets, and so on).
This NPC also would also be extremely enthusiastic about fish and would offer to fillet any amount of fishes for you free of charge for the duration of the event! They would also give you all the Perfect Roe that you would get through manual filleting, based on the same RNG that is already applied to filleting.
There would be Heavy Wet Gunnysacks in the fishing holes that would work as any other type of event boxes, meaning they have a better chance of containing things like alchemy ingredients, motif pages, odd rare items like Aetheric Cipher, and so on.
This would create incentive for folks to go after the Master Angler achievement, possibly on multiple characters, it would add good community spirit as people would chat each other up in the zone chat while fishing the same holes, and it would also save many presses of "A" or "X" for those who play on consoles, where they would get a fun way of enjoying fishing and also reaping the rewards for fishing without having to arbitrarily wear their controllers down. It would also be probably one of the most relaxed events that this game has seen! Fishing in itself is meditative, and there are a vast plethora of interesting locations to fish in.

I'm a 3 time Master Angler and I'm slowly getting ready for a 4th run. It's really fun to just slow down and do something super chill. And I got to know a few friends a lot better fishing together.

The water logs of arteaum was a step in the right direction.
But 1 out of a 100 chance for a perfect roe?
If the festival drasticly improved the odds of getting something nice from fishing I would do it, but I don't think it is a very rewarding playstyle.1 -

mekops_ESO✭✭✭Theres only a million reasons not to play this game on a console and this is one of them. If I picked up an MMO on pc that had a skyrim style interface it would be an immediate "no" on that basis alone.
I would love a fishing event as long as it didnt interfere with the rollout of actual events1 -

✭What about tying the tickets to the fish you catch. A green fish gets you 2 tickets, blue gets you 3, gunny sack gets you 1. So you get your daily 3 tickets from either 1 blue fish, 2 green or 3 sacks/1 green and a sack.1 -

These two ideas are even better!
The world boss idea could be implemented as certain world bosses, for the duration of the event, coming with a chance for a drop for something like an "Extra Moist Heavy Wet Gunnysack", a version of the Heavy Wet Gunnysack that had the possibility of containing a certain fragment for a fishing related costume, hat or other collectibles (and maybe some of the Zanil fish furnishings too) in it
The daily quest could also come with "your first completed daily quest/character for this NPC would come with a guarantee for an Extra Moist Heavy Wet Gunnysack" so for those who wanted to grind some extra of those, there would be the option of fighting world bosses with a a marine or "seaside" theme, such as Old S'ren-ja Docks, Wreck of the Raptor, Bitterpoint Strand, The Matron's Clutch, Jagged Grotto, Shipwreck Strand, Waterdancer Falls, Windshriek Strand, Trapjaw's Cove, Dreugh Waters and probably a bunch of other bosses.
The idea with tickets being tied to "first catches of rare fish/day" is also good since it would motivate people to move around zones too, it would be a bit of a motivator for achieving Master Angler!1 -

I doubt that since there are an abundance of fishing holes; if the New Life fishing quest doesn't cause any such problems with its very limited number of specially spawned fishing holes in only one small region of Shadowfen, I really doubt an event that would include all fishing holes in the game would be a problem.0 -

The problem with the addon is that it's not a bulk "fillet" like the bulk refine. And as it's filleting one fish at a time, over and over and over, you can't do another damn thing on your machine - neither in the game, nor out of it.
I had about 20k fish from doing 4 master fishers. Filleting them took me about 18 hours total. Even with the addon1
