Crown For Gold Prices Doubled since Endeavors

I though they would go down....

PC/NA

From 80:1 when the Pandemic started

To 750:1 :open_mouth:

I don't understand how the demand doubled since endeavors came out it was 350:1 a month ago....

Could it be that people are browsing the rewards and decided they want to get crates too and demand skyrockets ?

[snip]

One thing is for sure now....

I rather work an extra of 2 hours a week and buy crowns to sell for gold, than spend 6 hours total in a week Crafting for the same amount of gold.

[snip] I used to buy crowns with gold and max price I paid was 450:1 (PC/EU), now I will rather close my wallet entirely and not bother both with gold/crown and $$/crown. Game is heading in terrible direction, no need to finance it.
As a side note, I am always amused how people wind up prices and then whine stuff is too expensive when they want to buy crowns with gold themselves. Clearly something's wrong with thinking process.

My guess is the new polymorphs and apex radiant mounts being released in the crown store for gems. So the demand for crowns went up. I bought crowns for 400:1 last week. You can find cheap rates if you're patient and willing to use zone chat.

Can you freely just work 2 extra hours and get paid for it?

There are other means for making gold in the game that is fun.

Mainly coincidence. According to The Crown Exchange, buying crowns for real money recently got more expensive in many countries which leads to increased demand in crowns for gold.

I've never seen 80 to 1 on pcna. I used to buy them at 200.
Have not bought any in a while as there hasn't been anything that I really wanted.

From the several guilds I am in that I sell crowns in the issue is that demand has gone up and supply has been low.

Except for when I see WTB offers posting 900:1 (saw it yesterday in Wayrest mostly). My amusement raises rapidly. It's like willingly giving a terrorist a gun so he can shoot you. Then another person wrote something about idiots pumping up prices and whole drama started lol.

On ps4 it seems to be going up a little to like 125 gold a crown right now.

Still tonnes of people wanting loot boxes and now the new merchant and banker I guess.

Well, since last year ESO got plenty of new players and (just my assumption) many of them might have some financial issues due to situation we are all stuck in (thanks to unidentify virus of unknown origin) - so not surprisingly prices for crown are going up - more people want to buy, less people want to sell. Maybe in few months situation will stabilize and price go down. Or maybe not ;)

It's apparently because crown pack prices in some areas have risen, so there's not as many sellers as before. This creates more demand than there's supply, so prices rise. Plus, there have been so many new stuff in the store, and things like houses are crazy expensive, so until there's a crown sale, my guess is that the rate will remain high. Not to mention that gold accumulation is a thing, because gold just gets exchanged, and there's not a lot of gold sinks except fees, repairs, and the stuff like houses you can buy for gold in-game, so inflation starts to happen.

If there's any relation at all, I'd say it's from people wanting to get DLC zones that they don't have (to do DLC endeavors), not buying more crates.

Crown sellers are exploiting a grey area in the TOS, so um, yeah, they sell for whatever people are willing to pay for, as long as ZOS isn't putting their foot down about it. And I don't know why people assume it's the sellers who just randomly make up prices when I've seen people in zone chat and in my guild chats making repeated offers of much higher prices to buy crowns, because they want the new crates or the crow assistants. It seems there are more WTBs then WTSs out there and so it's a seller's market. At least as long as ZOS is looking the other way.

I remember back when on PC NA the tamriel crown exchange had it for 225:1 and if you didn't use that you could get it for even less.
    What the heck happened.

    1) Crown Sale regularly scheduled for August during QuakeCon should shut down prices a bit.

    2) PC gold is clearly out of control. Not enough of a gold sink in place to eliminate from the economy and add-ones definitely taking their toll and increasing inflation.

Imagine having the "average" amount of Gold, how are they supposed to afford anything with these prices?

The fact is most players do not even have enough Gold to afford a notable home, imagine a new player trying to buy DLC, they would be SOL because they would be unable to make the million or so needed gold required to pay for it.

ZOS has to do something otherwise prices will just go up and up until it costs you 4,000,000 gold just to buy 1 crown crate.

    Well, market manipulation is real.

If you see the pattern it is very clear actually.
    Every two months,
First month-- crown drought, nobody sells, so prices go up reasoned by fake low supply.
Second month-- everybody sells with new increased prices.

Cycle continues and prices go up regularly. [snip]

ZOS can’t do anything. It’s a completely Player controlled market.

Individual players use their own cash to buy crowns at universal standardized prices. Then they resell em at their own price according to what they want. There is no standardized market that ZOS can do anything about. That’s clear as prices between sellers vary wildly from platform to platform.

Like I’ve said, blame yourself for how much gold is made and not used for crown prices. Maybe get rid of add ons and see those prices drop. Or maybe PC is just filled with the type of players who gouge.

They changed the pricing on south American countries that could buy crowns for 1/10th the price of any other country. Now its around the half. Probably the reason.

Also keep in mind that the extremely high WTBs MIGHT be (not saying they *are*, but *might be*) scammers trying to lure in unsuspecting newer players with the prospect of making a lot of gold quickly.

Why would they "have" to do anything? Buying crowns with gold is 1) a player-driven thing, and 2) not really an "average player" thing.

Or sellers trying to make it seems like people are really buying at that price...

Lots of people WTB and not many people WTS.

Also, I do think irl money values more than some gold in a game. I do not buy the crowns, I am already getting items for free while someone elses opens their wallet.

Sure, prices did go up by a lot, and they will probably come down with the next big sale as people will stock up on crowns again, but as long there is such high demand, sellers have 0 reasons to lower their prices.

ZOS needs to add a huge gold sink, or stop releasing only interesting items in the store. There is nothing to achieve in game as 99.9% of the nice items are in the shop. Once you got your free personalities, mounts, skins ecc... The rest is only on the crown store.

    1. High demand for items lately, popular crates, etc...
    2. No "free" money from stimulus checks that was fueling some people having additional disposable income.
    3. Crown pack prices were more than doubled in many countries.
    4. Steam "loophole" where people were faking where they lived to take advantage of exchange rates was closed.
    5. Inflation in game, lots of gold going around, makes the gold you have less valuable.

Combination of all the above has led to a sellers market and higher prices.

You can think it's because people are greedy, or manipulating the market or whatever, but there are real-life reasons for a crunch in the crown supply.

Remember, if you are buying items with in-game gold... that is "free" other than your time... the person you are purchasing crowns from is putting down real money.
