Leyawiin Furnishing recipes only through stealing?

I'm a housing fan and a crafter and active in one of the larger housing guilds.

I've been trying to find the new Leywiin Furnishing recipes and have had virtually no luck, except for a few green ones. I've been buying a few, but especially the purple recipes have prices that go beyond the moon.

So I asked in the guild and was told that they're only available through stealing in Leyawiin and Gideon.

While I do realize that the devs want to make this game interesting and challenging and finding recipes too easily takes away from that, locking the recipes behing a skill that not everyone uses (or wants to use -> see thread on endeavours) seems a bit excessive.

Has anyone had better luck somewhere else (delve, dungeon?), or am I consigned to contine fruitlessly scrabbling in other people's underwear drawers?

I dropped a purple blueprint inside the Silent Halls public dungeon, from a lonely unowned backpack.

As far as I know, they can drop EVERYWHERE on the map, as long you are looting urns, wardrobes, backpacks ecc... Owned items that show up in red count as stealing, and there you have a lower chance of getting rarer items.

Do the main quest till you gain access to the Councilor Jirich's Manor, everything inside will count as unowned and have an higher chance, so you do not have to steal.
If after you opened everything you did not drop one, tp to someone in Blackwood and go in again.

It's weird, I haven't had any blue quality ones drop, but I had one purple plan drop from a backpack in a delve once. They may have adjusted drop rates since they added that CP passive that gives you a chance to find two plans instead of one.

I also found a purple bookcase in a non-stealing backpack. Several green recipes from various non-stealing sources.

I haven't brought my pickpocket character to Blackwood at all.

I've gotten a lot of greens, 1 blue and 1 purple.

Prices I can sell the greens for keep going down, but they're still in the low 4 digits.

They seem to have replicated their massive error from Murkmire and put a really inadequate number of lootable containers in the zone. That's particularly sad because they did such a great job on this with the Reach.

I already pick up everything that isn't nailed down... ^^;; But thanks for the tip with Councilor Jirich's Manor! I'll definitely try that...

In the Flame of Ambition, the drop chance of accessories recipes has been greatly reduced. All recipe farmers have noticed this. Previously, purple furniture recipes cost 400-500k gold. Now they cost at least a million.

Yes. Back in Markath, there were expensive recipes, too. But now, it's so expensive, it's prohibitive!

I miss the Northern Elsweyr days when they added a lot of furnishings that could only be sourced through stealing or container looting. They had the opportunity to generate more interest in Greymoor and Blackwood with the same simple adding of a few unique items to some loot tables, but just blew it off.

I really don't understand a lot of what these folks do (and don't do.)

I guess if they don't put it in the crown store, they make it almost impossible to earn in game. To be honest, I am surprised they don't have furnishing plans in the store, and the best looking at that.

On the first day of Blackwood they were dropping a lot in the castle. Then after a patch, the plans have almost stopped completely.

Here is my theory;

Zos puposely made them extra rare.

Later when they see people have largely stopped doing the delve and wb dailies, they will add them as a chance to drop in those containers. This way it “refreshes interest” in doing the dailies.

It’s just a theory, but I am fairly confident this is what is going on.

I no longer farm plans, there's no point. It's annoying, boring, and repetitive as hell, and your chances to find something are next to none. It's not even a good way to make gold, since the drop rates are so low. It's a nice bonus if you happen upon one, 'cause you can sell it for crap ton of gold when it's new and shiny. But I'd rather spend my luck on winning the actual lottery.

They will eventually include a Blackwood furnishings plan envelope for sale in Faustina Curios wares. At that point I'll just buy 40 purple envelopes and trade for the rest I want. Lot easier, simpler and so much less headache inducing than, you know... actually playing the content and looking for them in the world.

I confess that I don't quite see the reasoning behind the low droprate. I mean, housing is one of the central contents of ESO, so why make it so frustrating and difficult for all the players that enjoy this content? *ponders*

I got a few plans stealing when Blackwood launched, but not anything of value for maybe two weeks now.

The problem with the Councilor Jiric’s Manor is all the containers - most of them are “cabinets” can have either mats and plans or provisioning ingredients. I get way more of the latter.

I don’t think I have found a single furnishing plan there that I did not already have.

i have gotten two purples, several blues, and countless greens, never through stealing. It may have been mentioned already in this thread, but the manor you have to investigate for a murder mystery during the first main quest of blackwood has.. let me count off the top of my head.. if you're only counting Leyawiin furniture [which it can drop from, unless im mistaken it doesnt drop from apple baskets and such], there's at least 23 possible spots in the manor that have chances to drop plans. that's where I got all my stuff, anyway.

Remember, too, that the RNG is a sapient malevolent entity and it just hates some of us. I've been farming Jirich's manor since two days after the release of the chapter, and I've found plenty of the same 5 green recipes over and over, no blues and no purples. Seriously it is ALWAYS the same five. Vine tomatoes, square table, fancy square table, round table, wide pot. It just baffles me.

I don’t think I have even found five total Leyawiin plans there the whole time. It’s almost all provisioning items, every time.

Seriously, do you have to have all the achievements in the zone, including the ones from the trials, to get good drops or something? I finished the quest and started leveling up a companion to see if it helps, but I’m not in a trials team.

They definitely font just drop from stealing all the normal lootable places drop them. I've found & given away hundreds that weren't selling in traders

I loot everything that is tied down and everything that isn't. I leave no stone or chest unturned. Since I have ESO+ and the craft bag, it's something I've been doing forever. I can't walk past a container without at least looking inside.
And still very few recipes. Not a single purple... by this time in Greymoor I had at least a few.

That is just awful RNG. I got 2 purples from Blackwood, but for example only 1 from The Reach since it dropped.

Also never gotten a purple drop in Elsweyr. It is what it is, at least looting doesn't cost anything besides a little bit of your time.

Doesn't help that you can get a purple and it can potentially be base game too, had that happen a few times.
