Dunmer benefit from being one of the most well-developed and interesting races in the TES franchise thanks to TES 3. It's very easy for me to create Dunmer characters that fit into a niche in their society or that go counter to the culture in various ways because that race is so well developed.1 -

✭✭✭✭✭Dunmer (Darkelf)While all the races/cultures have their own splinter groups and factions, only the Dunmer are really splintered in a meaningful way. The Nords in Western Skyrim are the same as in Eastern Skyrim. The Bretons should be even more splintered, but they aren't and neither is any of the other races. If you have met one Altmer you've pretty much met them all.
But with the Dunmer you have the scheming businessmer in House Hlaalu, the grumpy land-owning Dres, the devout Indoril, the honorable Redoran and the individualist Telvanni mages. And then you also the have Ashlanders and the Morag Tong. Dunmer society has many ugly sides - slavery, legalized murder, inquisition, xenophobia and suppression of "wrong-thinkers", but there are beautiful sides to it all and valuable lessons to be learned.
The other races feel like flat stereotypes by comparison, even if they have their interesting sides as well.This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.8 -

The other one didn't have Imperials, called Khajiit "furries" and Argonians "lizard people". Instead of Imperials it had "Gnomes".

I always used to go Bosmer since I liked playing short characters, but since Skyrim I've always been drawn more to the berserker playstyle (even though in Skyrim we all ended up with stealth archers by the end). ESO's height slider finally let me be the smol swole Orc of my dreams.
And he's awesome. Never looking back.
Still favor the Nordic lore and aesthetic, but that's easily remedied - my Orc's just from Skyrim. Done.1 -

"Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game." - @AlexanderDeLarge2 -

After ESO:
hate all cats with a passion - the most disgusting race in a whole game world,
followed by most lizards that are bad-looking altmers with no real culture but with the same arrogance.
Next are dunmers that are even more vile that in Morrowind.
Ofc altemers follow dunmers. But with many exceptions
But I changed my view on orcs, bretons and redguards.
The last on is an interesting case because they are eqiualent of cultures of the fertile Crescent and no one of them were black0 -

✭✭✭✭✭ArgonianBeasts-races in general. In every TES game I always played as an Argonian & Khajiit. And the reason for that is simple: not many cRPG games allow to play as such. Every time it is a human dude, an elf (human with longer ears) or dwarf (human that is short). And that's it. It is so generic that it is just boring.
The only game so far that made "regular" races look interesting was DOS2. Each race had different model and visually it looked just better. Elf looked different than human. Also, lizard race looked way better as they had different animations set. The attention to detail is important and DOS2 devs knew it. It is kinda similar to how beasts-races were shown in TES 3 Morrowind. In that game those also had different skeleton & animations set and imho were best amongst every TES game so far. Attention to detail is important. Morrowind devs also knew it. It is kinda shame that since then Argonians & Khajiits are made in kinda lazy way as basically it is same model as human but with different head and tail glued at the back... but at least it is something different & less generic.
I picked Argonians as they are the most unique playable race, but I like Khajiits too (my 2nd favourite race). I am kinda jealous (idk if that is the right word ?) for the amount of attention & love Khajiits received from ESO dev team though. I hope that one day Argonians will also get this much attention in some kind of chapter with some recurring Argonian characters from the base game.2 -

✭✭✭✭✭RedguardEven if there's a new race someday (but consider: if it's not extant in the later games, then some lore has to be developed to account for WHY it isn't there....) it's not likely to be something that's not human/mer sized - because there's the whole issue of clothing, armor, how to size stuff for sitting, what to do about mounts.... and lots more....0
