Is it intended that the annihilator curse a pool after 30s? Patch notes said they would only cast magma sludge at low health, but annihilator still casts magma sludge after 30 seconds even at full health. This will make no deathing the first boss impossible for 99% of groups.

At this time the last pts patch note mentions that this is intended instead of an HP %. However, even matching the DPS check to kill prior to this time frame seems to send the magma.

Most recent patch notes reverted that change from 5/17 on pts. Patch notes say annihilator will cast magma sludge at low health.

Same question here. Like, is this a bug or a feature? And how are we supposed to do it without deaths?

I’m not 100% sure, but it seems like the latest change was to prevent burning the mini before it magmas a pool. Now it casts magma after 30s or before it dies, whichever is sooner, meaning that you cannot keep pools clean. This turns the fight into a combination survive poison + DPS race from 50% to 0%.

Yes, It's an addition. As @WrathOfInnos said, it casts it either after 30 sec or at low health. Wichever comes first.

I dont believe there was ever a time even the top groups were burning the annihilator in less than 30s. That would require 900k group single target dps. I asked someone from Calamity and they confirmed my suspicion that it was all but impossible. When I read the patch notes, it seemed like they reverted their changes from May 17 on PTS so that instead of a time base magma sludge cast, it was health based. I suppose the U30 patch notes are ambiguous enough to encompass what you are saying though @WrathOfInnos

    May 17th PTS Patch Notes
Havocrel Annihilators now cast Magma Sludge on a time interval instead of it being based off of their health percentage (note this affects Hard Mode only).

    U30 Patch Notes
Havocrel Annihilators will now cast Magma Sludge at low health.

as it stands, is there a way for people to survive from 50%-0% without mist form?

Yeah, to be fair I interpreted it the same way when I read the patch notes, and was surprised when they cast magma on the pool at full health. I’m not sure if anyone ever pulled off that 900k burn, but I believe it was possible before this change if everyone saved ult and burned the mini where it spawned (pre-placed DoTs). 100% uptime on Force and Slayer, as well as things like Storm Atro for Sorcs makes a short burst of ~110k DPS achievable.

My group got pretty close a few times with deaths and no Zen/MK, so I’m sure Calamity or other top groups could manage. Maybe the devs just saw that it was about the become the meta strat and removed it.

we were going to try OOT/OT just kiting the second two annihilators on back wall after 50%, but that's a rip. Still don't know how to no death this without guarding/mist form which seems like a poor development design IMO

Bumping for a response. @zos_Finn can you tell us whether the first boss mechanics are working as intended? 50-25% there is only one pool 25-0% there are none and the only feasible way people are surviving this is vampire mist form. If a tank gets cursed after 25% gg. Also second boss the deaths touch dot and hemorrhage from flesh atro are so big that the only way to survive again seems to either magma shell or mist form. Is it the intent that end game groups must be vampires to no death these encounters

also because of how the dungeon was designed, according to code, bahsai cant be maimed, cowardice, etc because its an invisible copy of the boss that applies deaths touch. is that intended, or an oversight? can it be that any debuffs applied to boss get applied to invisible copy of boss too?
