Serious trouble getting into the new PvE normal trial groups - where to look?

Been trying to collect gear from the new Rockgrove trial for my sticker book, but only been able to get there once since release...

Can anyone give me an advice where to look? Noone ever seems to advertise it in Craglorn :/ I really want to complete that page in the sticker book and don't know what to do anymore. I just spent 4 hours straight gathering mats in Craglorn and watching the chat with 0 results.

Why don't you just host your own group instead of waiting to see an add for one? Put out a call in the chat and invite people.

You might not get a clear from just doing a pug, but like most trials on normal it is not difficult.

Join guilds that are social but have a side of pve. They are your best bet for normal trials.

Some things seem easier to group for than other, Sunspire and cloud rest seem easy but other things are really not as easy to get into.

In my opinion Rockgrove will be as or even less popular then Kyne’s aegis. The gear is not that special, and the final boss is not that pug friendly.

I don’t have a good solution for you when it comes to pug groups, I was invited to a guild run group and there was a lot of talk during the run if they were going to bother doing it again in the near future. If that is the prevailing attitude towards the trial, I think the pug runs will be few and far between.

My best solution is to form your own group. Not a great answer I know, but there it is.

Yep, there's lots of people sitting in craglorn who don't want to go through trying to form a group, but will join yours if you put out a call for it.

Thanks for the tip! I've never lead a trial before and don't exactly know how everything works so I was more looking for a group rather than forming it myself. Might have to just try and see what happens I guess :D

It is also a new chapter trial so a lot of people don't even have it.

craglorn zone chat is also quite useful for that.

On PS4 EU I see it advertised a fair bit when I am nirncrux hunting. I second the joining a social guild that does trials, the guild I am in runs normal trials 3 or 4 nights a week, often multiple runs.

Honestly it shouldn’t be this hard to find a trial. No player should have to stand in craglorn looking for a group or try to form one. No one should have to join a guild just to do content. For a game that advertises an open experience, where you can start anywhere, and do anything … there is a lot of fine print. The new eso is a game geared to solo pve content with your companion. Every year they spend countless hours designing a new tutorial, something that might be used once by a player, rather than focusing on ease of access to content. Is a trial group finder an impossible feat? Absolutely not!!!… because battlegrounds already does this by putting 12 players together.

Choose your own adventure! *(As long as you are willing to join a guild and jump through hoops)

I feel like an open custom group finder would be an excellent solution for this kind of stuff. I really miss it from WoW. Anything you wanna do just create an add and watch people join.

Craglorn (zone chat) is where trial runs are advertised the most :)

You can also type into the zone chat what you are looking for, and if enough players are looking for the same trial then someone usually starts a group :)

Send me a PM - I run a pretty big social guild and we run normal and vet trials regularly.

You need to join a guild that does trials and similar content in order to get into a Rockgrove trial right now. I've noticed the same thing - nobody in Craglorn is pugging the Trial, and I can tell you that the reason is that it is definitely a more difficult trial than say NAA, NCR, or NSS. It's more in line with NHOF and NMOL in terms of difficulty, and I'm guessing that there are not many people who are willing to pug a more difficult trial right now.

If you don't want to join a guild and be more sociable, you may have to wait until people have practiced the trial enough that the pug success rate goes up, because nobody wants to sit and fail over and over again in a trial, which is going to happen until the broader player base gets more experience in the trial.

Problem is I'm already in 4 PvE guilds and nobody wants to do it. It's always CR, AA, HOF etc. Pretty much like you said.

Or if anything it's veteran rockgrove and I really don't want that. I really really really don't want to do vet content. :/ of any kind.

Just start your own group. Say it in zone until you fill the group. On normal most groups should clear.
