How to command my companion on console?

How do i do this on xbox? Is it not possible? Thanks in advance!

    Hold both thumbsticks down then press triggers left or right. I think right sends them in and left makes them run back? works with pets too.

    Performing a heavy attack will also cause your Companion to switch to your target.
