Given the performance issues and the amount of players, I wonder if ZoS should rethink this. It would probably take a load off the NA and EU servers. I would also be curious how populated it would be.

It would take a load off, but these megaservers are huge (floor space and capacity) and three more of them would be a massive undertaking. I am talking not only the task of finding a site and building the megaserver but years of ongoing maintenance of that server. Multiplied by 3.
It would have to be very populated, with lots of people buying the game, Crowns, and ESO Plus.

Also with China there are massive logistical and legal issues with operating an MMO involving corporations and such that go well beyond a potential player base and servers.
As such don’t expect to see a dedicated ASIA server.

Dude, I don't know how many times it needs to be said, but Asia is not China.
Their megaserver population explanation is not unreasonable, but it really just underscores the age of their tech.
I'm in the same boat as you. 2019 and before the EU server was fine for Asians but now its performance is garbage. The NA server which is literally twice as far away seems to work a bit better. Only ZoS can truly answer why they haven't made an Asian/SEA megaserver by now, I guess they don't consider the investment to be worth it. I'd love one tho.So I brought eso in maybe 2017 or so. And from then I'm waiting for an Asian megaserver! In 2017 I used to get like 150 latency in Cyrodill and now it's 200-250 so doing pvp became just absolutely horrible and frustrating as I play in EU megaserver from India. It's been like that from 2019 and hasn't been fixed so why not release an Asian megaserver to fix the high ping issue!
What do you mean impossible? It's technically possible to account transfer to a different server if the server is newly launched (since its databases would be empty at launch). They did it when console servers launched back in 2015.trackdemon5512 wrote: »The Japanese client means that a large section of ASIA already plays on the NA server and switching them to a new server is impossible.

There was a mega-thread about it on these forums a while back when the Oceanic region pings went up to 350+ minimum. ZOS made an official announcement in that thread that the Oceanic region would NOT get it's own server because they did not believe that Oceanic players would enjoy the experience! XD

Surprisingly, "the cloud" is not the answer to every server problem. Internet latency does not magically disappear in "the cloud". For there to be any performance improvement, the game would have to be rewritten from the ground up, and probably done on a smaller scale than what we have today.

Of course we know ASIA is not CHINA but in this day and age when taking into considerations an MMORPG China factors greatly for the region with the largest population of PC users. As such it factors in greatly into whether or not to provide a megaserver service to the entire area of the globe.
In fact an official Chinese release would be grounds for a new Megaserver with such a robust population and consoles being released to the public unlike 20 years ago. The cost of an ASIA megaserver would likely be justified as would any other changes. Don’t forget that ESO is currently only in four languages: English, German, French, and Russian, along with a unique Japanese client. The Japanese client means that a large section of ASIA already plays on the NA server and switching them to a new server is impossible.

Nothing is impossible! They switched a huge portion of PC players to Consoles when they first came out [snip]

How much latency Aussies get? can't more than SEA xD

Yeah one data base to an empty server. Now it would be data from two separate servers. There would be conflicts that were not there when the PC to console switch was made. Same reason they don't transfer accounts from EU to NA.
