companion ability: Razor Cape

I understand the conditions that companion's abilities need to meet in order for them to be used, it does rather irritate me when they use an ability out of order/place when the other abilities that precede it conditions can't be met so they skip over them. Razor Cape has no such conditions and is cast immediately regardless of where it is placed on the action bar. It could be on the 5th slot, if all other abilities on the bar are ready but require "enemy in melee range" to activate then they are skipped and goes directly to casting Razor Cape. This even happens if there are no nearby targets around to take the upfront damage portion of it or the companion not yet taking damage themselves for the mitigation effect, wasting it.

Can you change the conditions of it to include if damage is taken or enemy in melee range? So if they are out at a distance, they aren't using it where it won't have any effect.

    I posted a similar post on this topic just before yours...

    The skill is set as "Target: Area" which is the same exact setting as Spinning Steel, however, Razor Cape is performing like a shield ability which is "Target: Self". So I'm wondering if the devs mistakenly set Razor Cape up as shield ability instead of a combat/damage ability? If so, they need to change the tooltip description or change the performance to behave like Spinning Steel where it only activates when within melee range of enemies.
