Bastian's potion supply box

After I finished Bastian's first quest he gave me a potion supply box that I might appreciate apparently.
In it were 9 level 1 "sip of" potions. Is this supposed to be a reward or something? The character was cp 1950 and has alchemy fully maxed so there shouldn't be a reason for getting level 1 pots and it doesn't feel like a reward at all, could it be a bug? At least Mirri gave me some treasure maps.
What did you all get in your supply box?
