Poll What is the best Expansion?

    Wrothgar

Especially considering they didn't call it an expansion to get around including access to it with ESO plus and then charge us the price of a new game for it.

    Summerset.

Jewelcrafting, Psijic portals, and the time when werewolves were relevant (Wolfhunter).

Also the best looking zone, by far.

    Summerset.
2018 is a cherised year when I experienced Clockwork City and Summerset, even today I often visit these two places, too many good memories..second comes Elswyer, Zos did a really good job creating the mood and environment of the home of khajiits.

    Elsweyr.
Tough choice really. I love all the stories in all the chapters. However, some of the zones are lacking in some way to move them down the list of favorites. My top two favorites are Greymoor and Elsewyr. Greymoor becomes second best when I compare them though. As much as I loved being in Skyrim again and exploring what it has to offer, there were also things that really ticked me off about it. Elsewyr, on the other hand, I loved everything about. There really isn't anything terrible in Elsewyr I can truly complain about.

Third would of course be Summerset. Love the story and the island. But visually it reminds me of a facade. And Morrowind is good for story but visually, I got tired of seeing all the lava and rocks honestly. Blackwood is still pending my decision.

    Summerset.
I feel the last two chapters have fallen short of the bar set by Summerset and Elsweyr. 2018 was the best year, full of hype, excitement and that amazing Summerfall event. Every quest in Summerset brought something new to the table in terms of lore and setting details, each story promising to shed a bit of light onto the culture, history and people of the Isles. The Psijic Order skillline was a huge motivator in that it was a big, new thing to chase that offered more meaningful choices as to what to slot on the bars. Cloudrest was cool and remains relevant for the gear.

Elsweyr came close, imo, delivering a zone that expanded Khajitti lore in a huge way, dropping hints here and there of pre-ri'Datta theology, a mystery slowly unravelling in the background. The Necromancer class was an exciting addition, offering a new reason to roll an alt, and the Ashen Scar story remains high up on my list of favourite quests in the game as I liked how it added to necromancer lore and incorporated class-specific dialogue. Sunspire was as impactful as Cloudrest in terms of gear-farming (although I only wanted that sweet-assed door furnishing). The year's event was fun, too, with some nice loot at the end.

Compared to those chapters, Greymoor and Blackwood don't seem to have brought as much to the table. The stories are compelling enough and meeting Eveli again is nice (Orsinium would have gotten my vote if it were an option) but neither of the two newest chapters have that special thing in the background, that subtext which only really unravels through stray comments, books and obscure details. The Clockwork City had it in the form of the Factotums and Sotha Nal, Murkmire had it with the mystery of Duskfall and the difference between modern and pre-Duskfall Argonians, and Markarth had similar subtext about the Reachfolk's history and worldview.

Just my opinion, though. Whether one's gameplay focus is on story and lore or character optimisation and progression, Summerset wove each element together very cleverly in a way that hasn't been matched since.

    Elsweyr.
Elsweyr, many hilarious quests, an fun trial and Khajiit, yes this one might be biased
Summerset was good, Morowind was an but tainted because nerfs and zone was overfilled with players. did an sneak mission who felt more like an Cyrodil zerg and more players than enemies in delves like or Shadowfern today :)
One reason why blackwood feel so empty is that ZoS learned and have more instances of it, all the delves, public dungeon and quest instances has many players even at slow hours who is then I do new content.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Summerset is my fav, and apparently many other peoples fav, the zone is never empty unlike some which feel like ghost towns.
Loved the story, architecture, Valsirenn, plus Raz, and Meridia's Golden Knight, not a day goes by that I don't do at least 1 daily there.

*edited to remove golden knights name incase someone hasn't done it, didn't want to spoil it

Out of the selection I say that you cannot really choose Morrowind Separate from Summerset because they are both part of a storyline.
Daedric Triad was a Great Storyline, but I can see why ZOS left that model to go to a more focused one - not just for their development team but also their marketing.

I liked Elsweyr, it had something Familiar (Dragons) and packaged it in something New (Elsweyr) and had a New Class - which I actually like their take on. It was an expansion in every way.

(The only thing I did not care for were the story boss fights 🤮 just mediocre in every sense of the word, really under whelming and undermined the story to a harmful degree)

    Best DLC - Wrothgar
(Second place tie between Murkmire & Clockwork City)

Wrothgar was not only something we had not seen before but it also explored the Orcs in a way that made me like the Race overall. If a DLC was able to get me to like a Race - its a good DLC.

Clockwork City actually made me like the Dunmer and I liked how it explored advanced technology

Murkmire was a great introduction to Black Marsh that we will get more of as time goes on.
You might be sensing a theme here - I like it when ESO does something NEW and not focus on nostalgia. I don't want to see Shivering Isles, Morrowind, or even Skyrim for more than a couple of years at least. I want to see places and things we have Not seen before in the franchise.

This is what made the Markarth DLC better than the Greymoor chapter

I don't want more nostalgia - I want ESO to introduce and explore new concepts or even obscure lore that we haven't seen until now.

This is why I appreciate the "Deadlands" Q4 DLC not looking like the typical "lava and brimstone" - it looks like we're exploring a whole new region in the realm. 👍

I hope that Next year we go someplace New & have a NEW Threat we have not seen before in recent games.

I'm torn between Summerset and Elsweyr, but I did Summerset after Elsweyr and LOVED the overall tone. The zone is beautiful and the music is relaxing. That's mainly it, tied with a nice story. Though, I love the look of Elsweyr, its music, and its story too. Summerset just felt very special to me with the whole aquatic vibe and the style of music. Kinda wish they pushed the aquatic stuff a bit more

    Summerset.
I would say Orsinium, but besides thst, Summerset. It was when eso was at its peak. Combat balance was tolerable, there was no absolutely game breaking progress halting bugs, there were good quests and fresh ideas. Also new craft and skill lines. Since then, quests became less inspiring, combat gets nerfed or twisted every update, and let me not list all the bugs player can encounter, cos it will take ages to do. More and more locked buildings since then, less and less lanscape details (especially Blackwood) more and more plot holes in quests.

Summerset followed by Elsweyr, Cats&High elves. I do not have time to present the in depth analysis and there will be or I believe I have stated to some extent the reasons why, Overall the visuals, storyline , memorable beloved characters, setting ,features and soundtrack combined in one package I would say nothing beats still Summerst and Elyswer they are too epic to behold. Greymoor is very underrated too the representation of Western Skyrim and stroyline was monumental especially blackreach. Tis but personal preference too further amplified by the fact I am so fond of these two races as well.

Also people should not count major updates to expansions.

    Summerset.
I put Morrowind because I think it is the most complete zone. It seems to be much larger than Summerset and Elsewyr, and it was the first expansion, imo, that was a notice upgrade from previous expansions. Morrowind as a zone looked MUCH better than wrothgar and craglorn. The quests, including side quests, were much better. And it had a new class. It felt like ESO was taking a real step up in game quality.

Summerset is my second favorite, because it's the most beautiful zone in the game, and it also has great quests.

Elsewyr is third. Also beautiful. Quests are good, but not as good as Summerset and Morrowind.

Greymoor honestly isn't very good. I think the zone is bland. Voice acting from the nords just sounds like some horrible french accent, and the quests aren't as good. The Antiquities system is so freaking stupid for an MMO.

Blackwood so far....meh. Honestly it doesn't wow me, and theres no new class or new skill lines. The companion system is...okay...but there's only 2 companions, and they don't add to immersion since everyone has the same one, and the game is too easy for them to actually be useful.

Seems like the game expansions got good, and now are starting to get worse since the addition of greymoor. I hope ZOS tries to wow us with the next one.

That's true Morrowind seemed the most complete and grand at scale with extremely intriguing lore , setting , beautiful soundtrack and Bizarre towns ,wildlife ,but I did not liked which does not mean is bad storyline nor it had an overall impact or characters compared those to Summerst and Elyswer. I have no issues with Greymoor quests and Antiquites system is but an optional.

A lot of people bash Greymoor. I think it was very well done and non appreciated maybe because folk got fed from Skyrim before. The Whole Vampiric saga including Markarath was supremely enjoyable. It will take far more to break down and state reasons not only "good" or "bad" It has to done in very detailed manner.

Vvardenfell seems larger with more notable points of interest, now if we talk about quests quality what does good or bad defines too you? Sense of humor, story , intelligent dialogue , characters, plot ,deadric princes , tediousness , repetition.

To declare some expansion really best it will a lot more.

    Blackwood.
    - Morrowind - Warden class
    - Summerset - jewellery crafting
    - Elsweyr - Necromancer class
    - Greymoor - Mythic items
    - Blackwood - Companions (and also Endeavours, but that is a base game update, but it was added with Blackwood update).

Personally I think that adding new classes was least impactful and actually, in some cases harmful for the game & class balance. So Morrowind & Elsweyr (although very good zones with lovely stories) land on the bottom.

As for the other systems that were introduced, it is hard to tell. Some will say it is mythics, some will say it is upgradeable & craftable jewellery and some will say it is companions. It depends what kind of player you are really (and yes, companions are actually big help for soloing content).
