Hello,

I completed Bastians Rapport quest "Things Lost, Things Found" and did not get the houseguest as a reward for completing it as others have. How can I get this resolved?

Don't you have to max out your rapport with the componians for them to become houseguests?

The Houseguest is awarded for completing their "Things Lost, Things Found" quest, as a friend of mine recently completed the quest an got the Houseguest awarded to them.

The houseguest is awarded for the quest after that: "Family Secrets"

If you are already at 2250 rapport before doing Things Lost, Things Found, then you can launch right into Family Secrets immediately upon completing TLTF, so it's easy to miss that you're on a second quest.

I did both just now and confirm TLTF does not award the houseguest. Only Family Secrets does. Just like with Mirri's two quests.

I spoke with my friend and his houseguest was MIRRI that was unlocked(he didn't clarify this earlier). Apparently(and I did this myself to confirm) Mirri gives her 2nd and 3rd companion quests back to back, not at new rapport tiers. So he completed all of hers. Bastian only gives his companion quests every time you level up the Rapport. Seems a little odd, I assume a bug on one of their parts.

Yeah, Mirri does give her two +500 rapport quests back to back at 1500 rapport. Bastian seems to require 1500 for his first and 2750 for his second, if I understand it right, which is why starting his first at 2250 automatically unlocks the second on completion. At least that was how it worked for me.

It certainly could be a bug. There are enough of them in game, especially when it comes to companions. But it might also be that Bastian is designed to require higher rapport for his second quest as a way of implying he doesn’t trust the player with the second part until higher rapport levels or that he needs time between his quests, given what happens plotwise. Of course that’s a wash if you just grind multiples Mages Guild dailies each day and blow through the personal quests anyhow, but if you’re only doing one or two dailies for him and taking it slow, so to speak, I wonder if it isn’t intentional that the pacing is different for him as compared to Mirri. I could see it either way.

I think the difference in pacing is intentional given the narrative context of their quests. Mirri's naturally leads from one into the other with no delay whereas Bastian needs time to come to terms with the results of his quest before he's ready to proceed with the next.
PC NA, CP2500+. Character creation is the true endgame.
