The thing what irritates me the most about them is that they are standing in the way whenever I want to loot something,go out of a door or even use a wayshrine.
This is something I would want to see changed in the future so they are walking a bit more far away from the player itself.

What would you like to see changed about the companions in the future?

Aggro. Aggro. Aggro. Less of it. They seem to call attention to the Daedric Princes themselves and I have to run everywhere trying to kill whoever is trying to kill them so bosses don’t reset.

But what I’d REALLY like to see is some little tweaks to the rapport. Like, Mirri enjoys going to dungeons/delves. If she says something before entering a delve, she could have a green aura/glow/highlighted indicating that if you talk to her, you can get a little back and forth and depending on how you answer, you can raise her rapport a little more than reading a bookshelf. Maybe it’ll even give her a tiny little buff like “attacks a but quicker or has more health recovery” or such some nonesenses.

Or you and Bastian enter Anvil and he has a little dialogue of how he came there once with the fam as a kid and lost his favorite teddy Bobo and randomly in the map is a long lost Teddy just waiting to be found, so you’ll have to explore.

Edited because of many many spelling errors.

My ideas taken from another thread:

Playing with both, here are some suggestions:

-Remove rapportdecreases entirely. Rapport goes up so slowly, there is no reason to punish certain in-game activities. And worrying about rapport is a major hassle when playing multiple characters. Also, with future companions in mind.

-Disable interacting with companions while in combat. (Give us a hotkey to disable/enable interacting with companions completely)

-Give us a simple command to tell the companion to move towards us.

-Do not let companions go out of a certain range from the player, as this causes monsters/bosses to reset. Or causes them to walk for miles.

-Do not let companions get aggro at all, unless they use a taunt.

-When in combat the companion does not have line of sight of the enemy, let it instantly respawn onto the player.

-Do not show the companion marker on the compass, it is only in the way.

After completing a few more zones with the companions out... I noticed regularly leveling a character is massively underperforming with regards to companion rapport. As opposed to doing the fighter/mages guild dailies. Therefor I feel more regular/zone things should give positive rapport, like for example: Completing side and main quests, collecting skyshards, discovering areas, completing map objectives, opening treasure chests, killing bad guys in general(questmobs/bosses), opening resourcenodes, etc.

Right now we have to go out of our way, to gain any noticable positive rapport. While regular play should be (atleast) equally rewarding.

Issue a formal apology for the lazy attempt and do a DLC giveaway in next month's sign-in rewards. Companions were ill-conceived, sloppy, attempt to sell an expansion and then the PTS issues fell on deft ears. Nothing was fixed?
With the exception of Roll, Play companions add no value and are more trouble than they are worth.
Wonder how much of the recent performance issues are due to all the companions?

    - Multiple loadouts to switch between, so I do not have to bank and take out every time on every character gear I'd like my companion to wear. This is made 1000 times worse from my lack of a banker, so I actually need to stop what I'm doing, go to a city ecc...
    - Companion backpack. Even a small one, with 10 or so slots.
    - Outfits being different on every character, if you so desire.
    - A fix to any sort of aggro issue companions are affected by. It's annoying having to run after Mirri because she light attacked 1 enemy and kept on dodging away, going for a walk with whoever I am fighting. I would even be fine with them not being capable of getting aggro, unless they are built for it.
    - Being able to tell them to move the heck away as I spend half the time quitting the companion menu because Mirri won't stop invading my screen. She can't be next to me, she can't be behind me, she has to be right in front of me every time I am questing or trying to loot.

    1. Assign a different Talk button with them separate from the Interact button.
    2. Assign a separate Use Ultimate button from Command Pet Action.
    3. Choose which direction they Dodge Roll. Forward, Sideways, Backwards or Towards me dammit!
    4. Control Combat Personality Behavior: Aggressive, Protective, Cautious, Cowardly, Pacifist.

    Aggressive = Current Behavior.
Protective = Only when I'm directly attacked by something do they attack it.
Cautious = Only attack what I have attacked, ignore everything else in combat.
Cowardly = Cast abilities only, when everything is on cooldown no auto attack whatsoever.
Pacifist = Stand there, follow me, do nothing.

This would be a very good QOL, I'm still amazed that these companions (thralls/slaves) cannot be mules even for their very own gear.

Gameplay, I'd like Companion gear to get an overhaul. Include it in the stickerbook and specify locations where certain types of pieces drop, even if ZOS doesn't want to let us transmute, craft, and upgrade the gear.

Roleplay...at the least, Companions need some emotes. The trailers made them seem a lot more interactive than they are. You can't really go to a tavern after a quest and unwind or celebrate.

For a real reach, I'd love for ZOS to record some reaction lines for after major zone story quests. Thing is, if you want to roleplay with your Comonaion, once you've done their quests, there's not much more they have to say. They become combat pets and houseguests. No doubt this is because ZOS expects us to drop our Companions like a hot potato when the next set of new Companions comes out. On the other hand, ZOS made Companions with planned obsolescence in mind - for roleplayers, the content literally runs out.

Oh yeah and if you already have a banker, a merchant and a fence allies - Allow the companion to fullfill those roles, flipping between them is annoying.

    - make them gain shared XP from quests, having them only level by kills is odd
    - remove negative rapport from daily gameplay things like crafting or gathering
    - make gear craft and upgradeable, or at least give it a decent drop rate, even green gear is way to rare
    - give them AoE resistance similar to pets
    - improve the customization, having clones is not making the game betetr and full customization would be good

I would like to see companions be able to craft their own gear. Yes it would be controlled by us but you would take them to the crafting station for companion gear and direct them on what to make. I would love companion resource nodes only that they would pick and carry. Or pick up upon killing bosses or trash mobs. There is a whole other mini game involved in that. Also costume crafting for companions. Give us the tools to make our friends unique. Obviously, it doesn't bother me to see so many of the same NPCs as I don't usually pay attention to those standing around me. But I would enjoy helping my companion get gear craft it or make a outfit. I know this might be a bit much so I will leave it as a suggestion and not a make or break my fun.

I wish we could equip them with standard gear, honestly. There are probably pretty good reasons why we can't, but even just the craftables would be good.

That said, I've made decent money in my Used Companion Gear side-business...

Would be nice if companions from time to time were reading in voice randomly generated poetry. Current technology allows that. For example they could stand in front of a crafting station, and as soon as someone approaches - start loudly reading their newest verse, and moving aside when finished.

This is likely the case, and it's very sad. Since companions are not yet great with combat, they could at least have more RP potential... unique or customized dialogue after clearing certain content, full outfit options, emotes, more 'personality' in general. I hope the plan is not to just release different companion classes in the future...

Do something about the gear situation. Stickerbook, craftable, unlimited companion gear storage bag. Something.

Let me set a range to follow me. I do not want Mirri in my personal space while looting.

Let me set a range to attack when using ranged weapons. Destro staff aoe seemed good until I realized the companion would run up to do things, then roll back and continue light attacking from max range. Let me tell them to get stay in.

Let them stand on pressure plates. If you can program Stibbons to do it... in the very same update... you can get companions to do it.

Do something about red circles. It's pretty much the end of companions once a persistent red circle lands under them. They are surprisingly survivable otherwise.

Those are the things I would adjust based on the current implementation. After that, I could come up with about 50 new things they could do from adding new skills and quests, new companions and more gear options like set bonuses.

We need some settings to be added to the game. A Wheel like interface as used on either Bethesda Games would be nice, but these could be added to the existing menu.

    1. Distance, set to closer or farther away.
    2. Companion Aggression, either they can aggro without us, or they wait until we attack. In latter mode, they do not draw mob aggro.
    3. Barking, either they talk or they dont. Quest related utterances would not be affected by this.
    4. Wait Here command. However this auto ends after say 10 to 20 seconds or if we leave a building or cell.
    4. Dismiss function.
    5. Auto return after using banker or merchant dismiss.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Important ones that would significantly improve QOL:
    1. Separate key assignment to interact with companions.
    2. Companions need to react better to standing in bad.
    3. Ability to summon assistants and companions at the same time.
    4. Add weapon-specific ultimates so that builds can be further enhanced with more role-relevant abilities.
    5. Transparency in rapport gain notifications.
    6. Companion storage/bank/inventory - at least enough to keep three builds on the companion for role changeouts.
    7. Companion stat window (like, for DPS, is more crit better or is more damage better? how do we even tell?)

Nice-to-haves/ideas but not a big deal:
    1. Additional cosmetic customization (add helm, change skins/body markings, etc).
    2. Some form of nameplate customization - seeing @username's Companion for everyone is kind of bland. One idea: have the nameplate reflect the rapport level label.
    3. Better intelligence on companion's situational reactions. Sometimes Mirri is super confident and cocky during a fight, and then suddenly goes "Fetching fetching fetch!" or "We need help!" It's weird. (But also funny.) (But also weird.)
    4. Add the companion emails to the lorebook so they can be saved for the more sentimental among us.

Stuff I love and want more of:
    1. Companion comments. Some are really hilarious or at least just plain neat.
    2. Companion-specific quest lines, or more tie-ins to existing quests. What we got was nice, but it went fast.
I liked Mirri's mom. Finding where she was and what she was doing was hilarious.

Different buttons for command companion vs command pet.

My warden likes to send in her bear first to draw first aggro (when not in a group dungeon). But a companion with a ranged attack's arrow/spell will foil this by getting there first. Result: My bear wardens will only run with pure melee companions.

My magsorc might want to send in a tank companion but that same command will cause her matriarch to shoot sparks and make a mess of the poor tank companion's attempt to pull. Result: My magsorc dumped the matriarch.

Neither companion has an ultimate yet but I hope that will not interfere with the command function. If so, the result (sigh) will be to not slot companion ultimates.

Variety. The number one way to improve companions is for there to be a bunch of different ones, with different likes and dislikes. I want a thief companion, for example, that increases rapport for stealing instead of decreases. It would also make the companions seen out in public a bit less of an eyesore if there are more than two (with one being WAY more popular than the other).
