Burnout

Does anyone else feel like the burnout is real for this game?
I have been playing since the start. And I feel like they change what is good so often it causes burn out on the game.
It is so bad for me I don't even bother to gold out my gear. Because I know its getting replaced withing a few months at best.
Even when they say they are making small changes it usually results in grinding out a whole new set.
This last one was particularly bad for me. I went non meta and had my damage halved. Meaning I will probably have to come up with something entirely new and replace the whole lot.

Does anyone else here feel like they change what is good way too much?

Burnout is real for any game, esp if you’ve been here since the beginning. It’s been like 7 years, take a break if you’re toast.

What you describe isn't burnout. It's change fatigue.

Thats exactly what it is. Thank you. I am tired of the constant grinding and changes.

Game Devs sometimes make changes and say it is for balance or the greater good of the game when a lot of the time it is just blatantly to keep players grinding.

The Devs think that they are keeping people in the game by constantly making them NEED something when actually they are pushing them away.

I'm getting close, rng driven content and constant change is killing any enjoyment at all. 20 hours for this kilt so far sucks enough but knowing it'll be 'fixed' in a few patches time along with any other decent sets is horrible.

Must really suck feeling you have to have or do whatever is the latest ASAP. No wonder the burnout.

Problem starts when instead of having fun playing, you start treating the game as a job.

I take "breaks" from the game quite frequently. It can last 2-6 months usually. During that time I mostly just log in to pick up daily rewards and donate to guilds.

Eventually I get excited to actively play again.

This game is no longer exciting. It's a chore like a full time job for me. The time sink gets deeper and deeper. And I honestly cbf spending any more time grinding.
I wish ZoS would make it more efficient and less time consuming

Been through several burnouts over the years in ESO. You just take a break, then come back later. Works for me and despite my dislike of blackwood I am enjoying the game now more than I used too haha

    Get only what you need.
Do what you like with your favorite equipment.
That's the way to avoid burnout.

Best thing you can do to yourself is at least to slow down, all the changes doesn't mean you need to be prepared day one or should "fully" adapt to it as it will most likely be changed again. So I prefer minor tweaks now rather than bold changes of how I play.

Extend of how far you go with this depends obviously on what content you're doing, also taking a break from your main activities to some other fields might do well for you.

Yeah, i am playing less than year and i am getting... Maybe not burnout, but after completing some vet content like MoS or SCP with few alts i found myself without a goal i could achieve (lets say it is hard for me to plan things in advance due to my personal situation, so trials are somewhat limited).

Did even few easier vet dung solo, really like it and thought that with companion i will be able to complete some dung locked by antisingle player mechanics, like Wayrest II, Fungal Grotto II, Blackheart Haven or Cradle of Shadow, but nooo... Companions are ignored by these mechanics (Still remember Bastian fighting in the shadow for few minutes ^^) so FY!

Thought that like in other games (single), I would able to explore, to see different things game has to offer, collect stuff & test it in different situation & meet some people BUT everyone is so busy with grinding with their countless alts just to stay relevant. And designing & making a build is so freaking exhausting cause all the time you are getting the same stuff, so you need to do the same thing and the same... Especially during trials when you are getting exactly the same set pieces as before (even rng of that should be comparable to jackpot) and most people are not interested in putting effort and making swaps for their collections, cause they need to go to grind some more... on the other hand, getting a piece you do not have, that you know your friend is hunting for the last few weeks is so heartbreaking and making you feel like [snip]

Yeah, burnout is a good word too, I guess.
