And always dodge roll backwards until they pass rest range!

And my bow Mirri gets stuck trying to launch her first attack behind a pillar, fails because she has no line of sight or is too far or something, but simply keeps on trying forever until I move the monster.

Agree, however they roll doge out of direct attacks who is cool but probably not needed most of the time rater just block.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I have noticed two issues with the AI of the companions.

First, when they are in range they stand too far away. They are outside of most group heals but more importantly is when they get agro on a melee NPC that NPC leaves the AOE and has to be killed separately. They seem to gain agro to easily.

The second is their pathing. When you stop your character the companion seems to stop just in front of your character. This a serious issue since the same button interacts when them is used for interacting with most things in the game. I expect we can change the keybind but the bigger issue is their pathing is flawed.

Unfortunately this isn't true with dragons. Litterally Bastian was just chilling in the aoes till he died.

Was it Skyrim or Fallout or both that had the options to “stay close”, “midrange” or “hang back”. Would be useful addition oh and change the interact key to be user defined or anything other than E.

I’d really like for Zos to lower companion’s threat level from DEFCON 1 to maybe a DEFCON 4.5 - 3(at most) as well as making them continually run away and resetting everything.

I found I cold keep my companion mostly alive in nBRP this way:

    1. Fight from the center.
Then your companion will also start in the center.
Try to keep the companion here.
If a companion fights too far away he/she usually lands in atro AoE an dies.

    2. Mark a melee target with a heavy attack.
Doing a heavy attack marks a target for the companion to be attacked. Melee enemies are always coming to you, so if you keep standing in the center and heavy attack a melee target, the companion also will try to fight in the center. Best to be marked are heavy melees, as they live the longest, this keeps your companion busy for a long time.

    3. Mark a distant target if the companion attacks a flame atro.
Whenever the companion attacks a flame atro, do a heavy attack on a distant target to mark it for the companion and get him/her away from the flames (if you are lucky).
