Time to Max Companions

Has anyone timed how long it takes to max a companion weapon or armor tree using various farming methods?

I'm eyeing Alik'r Dolmen to max out Mirri.

Or just play with them and enjoy. It’s been two weeks PC/two day console. Nothing should be instant or quickly gained, esp in the case of companions when the stats are account wide

This doesn't answer the question. I would like to play the game the way I want to.

Either provide an answer or don't comment.

Some people hit max 20 within 24 hours. Dolmen farming or Public Dungeons trash are the best exp, bosses actually don't give that much but are good for gear. Use 150% scroll or ambrosia and all training gear helps too, Heartland Conqueror does affect training weapons.

I did not do this, it would bore the crap out of me.

That is an answer. Just not the type you wanted. Regardless there really is no reason to waste one’s time grinding out skill lines which appear designed to take days if not weeks to max. That’s reflected in that it already is known it takes about 20 days worth of guild dailies to max those lines.

    Alrighty, thank you so much!

I do have shows to catch up (entirety of the Handmaid's Tale season 4) so I do have something to do.

Leveling to 20 is best done at dolmens, mirri seems to get a bonus at the end and if you do fighter quest, she gets rapport. I also believe the companion item drop rate seems a little better at dolmens. The armors, and weapons are stinker as you should level them up one at a time, and that takes a long time. I went from bow/medium, to restro/light and soon to heavy/snb. Once the armors are done I'll go back to medium from the other weapons.

Guild lines were done in two days off of 10 characters. Everything us is a slow grind.
    This is on consoles.

I would suggest avoiding the Alik'r Dolmen trains unless you have trouble soloing dolmens.

You will miss out on a lot of kill XP due to the large number of people making it take far longer than it needs to.

After I did everything in Blackwood story wise and completing the zone guide and the daily guild quests for leveling the guild lines and rapport, using a 50% XP crown scroll the whole time, I got Mirri to level 15 and Bastian to just under level 14.

Been casually leveling them since the 2nd day of the chapter release finished leveling them both yesterday.

With Golded out training armor and the Heartland set that boosts the trait of the weapon by 100% I was getting 95% kill XP add a 100% XP pot, I ran the dolmens in Deshan for the last 6 or so levels on each took me about 3 hrs each to finish there leveling.

Was averaging about 8K of the companion kill XP per dolmen(compared to the 1-2K per dolmen in the Aliki'r when its busy) with either just me or a handful of people, always got to get credit for killing the boss so had a much higher chance of getting companion gear think for me it was dropping around 8 pieces of companion gear per hour, got a few purple rings/necklaces of mothers sorrow to sell as well.

I would guess if you used my way for finishing off there leveling from the start maybe around 12 hrs each at most purely leveling from 1 - 20, probably nearly double that if you joined the Alik'r Dolmen train instead.

That said you won't level the guild skill lines without doing the solo daily quests for the fighters/mages/undaunted if you have multiple characters you can do it faster but I would recommend focusing on leveling the guild skill lines first before switching to purely level grinding them, your going to have to do it anyway.

I want know how you got 8k. I was soloing dolmen and got 1.5k kill xp so something doesn't add up here.

More people showed up on occasion usually 3 at most more enemies spawned I was faster at killing them or at least getting a hit in, also had the companion set up as a DPS. Averaged 3 - 6 K from the kills and about 1 - 2 K from the final pinion each time. Full gold training gear with the Heartland crafted set they just added 95% kill XP per enemy another 10% from ESO+ and a 100% XP pot both me and my companion killing everything that moved only activating the pinions once everything was dead.

Those are what the number said on my screen as I was doing it killing non stop for the most part the xp counter only dropped off while the boss spawned.

Just to get a rough idea:

    just played 11 hours.

No training gear, but 3 150% xp scrolls and one 100%.
    Used 2 characters.

    Reached Level 11 for Mirri.

Did 2 fighters guild and 2 mages guild quests, killed mobs in public dungeons, finally 4 hours at the vulkuhel guard dolmen, where daedra spawned nearby twice in between the dolmen fights.
Had bought blue armor, 5 heavy, 1 light, 1 medium right when I started.
In the end, heavy was levelled up to 12, light to 3, medium to 1, bow to 13.

Reason I use heavy is that she is too squishy with light, insta-dying.

The higher you rank up, the longer it takes to level up. At level 11 now with the guild skills she has become a pretty good fighter, so I think I will stop the grind, the rest will come from my daily delves and worldbosses within the next 2 weeks.

    There are several factors.

Like: are you enlightened? (gaining XP at increased rate).
Do you have a different level?

On my cp 1400 I get more than 1k xp killing an enemy, while my below level 50 toons had far lower numbers. The xp gain is connected to your (cp) level.
The higher you rank up, the more xp you need to get the next cp, but also get more xp for kills.
But I have no table showing exact numbers, it is just something I realized somewhen during gameplay.

Another issue is that there are far less daedra soloing a dolmen than doing it with other players around.

LOL, you actually think you can play the way you want? You haven't been playing long if that's what you think. Just about the time you are set up the way you want, ZOS will come along and pull the rug out from under your build destroying all your hard work...the new champion point system is a great example. Its great at shoehorning people into very specific builds, but that is about it.

To answer the question though...its going to be the same as any other quick-leveling...Skyreach, nBRP partial group runs, etc, just like other experience grinding like those though, its going to be inefficient when you could be leveling them normally while doing other things. IE: Grinding skyreach or dolmens to level a companion is a waste of time when you could be leveling an alt at the same time while collecting skyshards, unlocking skill lines, etc.
