Issue with An Unexpected Adversary quest

I was trying to complete the quest, "An Unexpected Adversary" When I got to the part where you are supposed to go through the portal (Shown below in link). When I interact with the portal. Elam goes through but I do not. The screen just simply turns black and I'm placed where I was before, with the jump failed. I have tried to do everything I can think of. I've abandoned the quest and tried to do it again (probably 6 times), trying to complete it without addons, trying to accept the quest from random people/friends, reloadui, quitting out of the game for a night and seeing what happens, letting the dialog play out fully, turning controller mode off, etc. I'm just left with "Explore the Ayleid Ruins" , on the wrong side of the portal and cannot progress any further.

Okay I had this issue but I found a fix for you, if you teleport out the cave if you get the portal bug then head West of the entrance and head to Welke Ruins you can enter the backdoor of the bugged area and make your way to the portal from the other side and it will allow you to enter the portal. The rest of the quest is perfectly fine after that. Goodluck

OP, have you managed to resolve this? I am having the same issue.

First attempt, when it didn't work I quit the game, did reloadui without success so abandoned and restarted.

Second attempt when it didn't work i tried leaving the instance and returning through the other entrance multiple times with no luck. Turned off all addons and reloaded ui, no luck. Left it for 2 days and still nothing changed. Abandoned again and started over.

Third attempt did the quest over again without any pets or companions, and didn't skip any trash to ensure lagging combat bs wasn't a factor and... still no luck. not even after leaving the instance again and return through the other door.

About to throw in the towel on this game.

Oh, I also confirmed on my third attempt that the quest advances even though I physically don't.

Once I use the portal and the screen darkens, the quest advances and instructs me to continue exploring the new part of the ruins I've been ported to - except it just puts me right back where I was standing.

Submitted a bug after my second try but have yet to get any response from ZoS.

Nope, haven't managed to fix my issue with this. Unfortunately, it looks like we'll have we have to wait until they patch it

I have exactly the same problem as shown in your video.

I did not have a forum account so I had to wait to write here.

I send a ticket to the support on June, 4th and did everything they asked me to do :
- Disconnect for at least 15 min to "reset" instance => even after 10 hours, no success
- Start the quest again => no success
- Start the quest again without any addons => no success
- Start the quest again with a staff in the primary slot (WTF ?) => no success

What I did from myself :
- Start the quest without interacting with the portal, instead, go out, enter the ruins from the wrong side (Welke door) => no sucess
- Try to group with someone who was in the room I can't go in and tp on him/she => no success
- Start Blackwood chapter on an alt to do this quest => My alt can go through the portal, so I'm pretty sure there is no problem on my client side
- I did a game repair yesterday, no change, my main character is still blocked

I restarted the quest 6 times, and my main character (not the alt) is still blocked.

Since I explain I manage to do the quest on an alt, support stop to tell me I am wrong, and instead, invite me to wait for a fix by consulting the "PATCH NOTES & HOTFIXES" part of the forum...

Nice, 11 days have passed (for me) and there is still no official state on this problem

Bug reports were made, but no direct response yet. Been struggling with the same bug for almost a month now.
We need to see what special circumstances might trigger this exception.
These circumstances havent changed since i've first tried:

Long Lost Lore, Signed in Blood, The Dangerous Past, The Psijics' Calling, Cadwell's Silver, (An Unexpected Adversary)

Sus skill lines:
Dark brotherhood in progress; Thieves' Guild completed entirely;

Uncategorized:
Dung mode: normal; Eso plus member; Active mundus; CP 400+; Only character leved to champ; Active sales in guilds;

I just came back to game and restarted new toons. I was stuck on "The Tharn Speaks" and found out that deleting "Devil Weapon" quest allowed me to progress.

That made me think that another quest was bugging out Unexpected Advesary. I started deleting guild quests, one at a time. After deleting Long Lost Lore, I was able to progress. Not sure if it is the specific quest or just a Mage guild quest, but it worked.

After deleting Long Lost Lore, I was able to both use the portal and complete the quest.

Bethesda should pay me to troubleshoot their game/bugs.

To anyone that is still having this issue, the post above fixed it. As soon as I got rid of "Long Lost Lore", it worked. Not sure why but it did.
