Does Ivory Brigade have a hidden 20 hr timer?

Pretty simple question, did you guys stick a 20hr timer on Ivory Brigade drops? Sure feels like it and have yet to find anyone I trust indicate they have gotten more than 1 in a 20 hr period.

Would be nice if you let us know when you put these timers in, would save a lot of folks time and frustration.

Same thing came up with the pages in Elsweyr. Yes there's a drop cooldown.

I always go under the assumption that all new motifs from boxes have the timer. I still have loads of Wayward and Markarth boxes to open since I stop as soon as I hit any motif.

I'm not a fan of these timers, but I'd rather get my motifs. Now if only I could get lucky enough to finish one of the three instead of continually getting dupes for each of them..

Does the timer apply to any Box received after getting a Chapter, or only to Boxes opened after? For example if I do all the Leyawiin dailies and get all the Boxes, then the first Box I open has a Chapter, will all those other Boxes not have a chance to contain a Chapter even if they're opened after the 20 hours?

In general, just save your boxes and open until you get a motif, then stop and wait 20 hours.

Usually no. The boxes get their contents when you open them.

If you have a stockpile, the best thing to do is open until you get a motif, and then don't open any other boxes until 20h later. That way you will have another chance to get a motif.

I always just assume a 20 hour timer on motif drops in dailies now. It's such a shame ZOS feels the need to put a hidden timer in there. It doesn't hurt those that know about it much but for the average player, they are missing out and don't even know about it. It just feels a bit dirty.

I'm sure they could come up with a way to let players know their boxes are basically less than ideal without breaking lore. Perhaps add a shine or glow to boxes when there is no timer and have that glow fade when you pull a motif?

Motifs drops from daily quests have a 20h cooldown since an update following Southern Elsweyr release.

I always assumed it was a cooldown on reset of the crafting quest (or server reset for rewards) and not a 20hours cooldown.

Anyway it is definitely not true about 20h cooldown on drops from daily quests boxes. Did 3 quests yesterday evening got 3 boxes, got a drop from first box yesterday, and opened 1 hour ago another one ( 10 hours later) and got another sheet on the same char. My wife got 1 yesterday evening and 1 today, but on the other char with the same 10 hours in between. I will try to make a proof screenshots if needed for next time I get 2 pages within 20 hours. Btw did the same with markarth boxes and often got more than 1 drop within 20 hours as long as the server reset for craft quests and for daily rewards was between those 2 time points. So if there is a cooldown at all it is not 20 hours but less.

The timer is for a guaranteed drop, the odds drop off significantly after the first box and every time you get a box I believe the timer resets.

That said you are extraordinarily lucky, I have opened 10+ boxes at a time and only seem to get one after the 20 hours has elapsed.

Man at this point I am beginning to think it's a damn 24 hr timer, just opened 11 boxes and no motif. I write down the time I open everyday and 20 hour elapsed 2 hrs ago.

No such thing as a guaranteed drop with motifs from reward boxes.

I've had days where I'll get a motif page on my first box, and days where I'll open 10 boxes and not get a single thing.

It's just a 20 hour timer until it's possible to get a page drop. There's no guarantee you'll get one, and once you do, you have to wait another 20 hours before you can get another.

I really doubt there is something like guaranteed drop. I farm motifs from dailies more than 2 years and I am pretty often "incredibly" lucky and not only me but my wife and my friends as well. And some times I open like 6 box in a row and don't get anything despite the fact it is days/weeks before I got last style sheet

I should not have characterized it as a guaranteed drop. Like Wayward Guardian, there is a 20 hr rolling timer, and if you are outside that window the odds of getting a page are MUCH higher. I almost always get a page in the first box or two, but the other day the matrix glitched and I went through 10 boxes and got nada, it is also possible I did something that tripped the timer and didn't realize it as a few hours later I tried again and immediately got a page. Which is why I joked about it being a 24 hr timer.

Understanding that you still have a chance to get a second or third page inside that window, but the odds are greatly reduced.

I appreciate you have been playing the game for a couple of years, I have been here since early closed beta and have seen these hidden timers applied on lots of chests and items, I just wish they were more consistent and didn't hide them.

in my experience motif pages drops from dailies rewards coffers AFTER Elsweyr are on 20 hours cooldown.
cooldowns were never confirmed by game-makers and this topic is kind of "flameable" as there always happen at least one very vocal player to deny that.
i play according to my own experience (like green furnishing plans are on 15 minutes cooldowns, blue on 30 minutes, motifs #76+ are om 20 hours cooldown) and i don't impose my approach to other players, it's enough it works for me.

I never stated that, there is no cooldown timers in game. There is one for the guaranteed drops (really guaranteed) drops for yellow transmut containter from cyrodiil boxes. Or the 20 hour cooldown on the Siege of Cyrodiil Merit and the one for imperial city. And I completely agree that there should not be any hidden timers on any drop in game. But the thread was about 20 hours cooldown on the ivory brigade motif drops, maybe you get the lower probability or whatever, but it is definitely possible to get more than one within 20hours and I did it more than once.
