Helping a brother

I'm currently VR1 in EB (but currently doing DC) and my brother just started played as DC, is it possible for us to adventure together? I understand that we can't party together but if we go to the same areas will we be in the same areas? Or are the VR instanced separately? I know there was some game that did the different levels in the same area but scaled the damage/health specifically for you (think it was Dead Island).

Alternatively I could start a new DC char but I've got 130 hours in my EB one and I've just done the starting DC stuff.

if it even were possible, he wont get any xp gain from killing mobs, teaming up with a hgiher leveled teammate, normally there is a lvl cap.

Almost ending up hurting more then helping, since the natural progression for xp gain killing mobs goes away.

maybe make another alt, to quest together?

Nope the VR areas are separate Instances of the normal areas for each faction. So what you see in VR DC are only players from EB. I think it may be possible to do normal dungeons with him though . I am not sure.

If you aren't in the same alliance, you cannot play together. The only place where you could 'see' each other is Cyrodiil

Yea I could go with a new DC char but I'll still probably out-level him and I like having a single char. Thanks anyway.

When your brother is online, play the alt character with him. When he is offline, play your level VR character. Only play your DC alt by yourself if your brother manages to out-level you and stop when you reach the level he is at.

    ???

    Profit.

The phasing will still present some obstacles for you though. Even if you manage to stay the same level, if he gets ahead of you on certain quests then you're both in different phases until you catch up on the quests. ZOS is working on a solution to the phasing problem, but I wouldn't expect that to be ready for deployment for a few months, even then, it's likely to have some bugs that will need ironed out. Other games that have used phasing like this have had a lot of trouble getting grouping to function properly without forcing players to deal with a lot of breaking and reforming groups until you get everyone in the correct phase together. I have faith that they will get it working eventually, but it could take several months to flesh out completely.

I agree the phasing can be a bit of a hassle... in extremely rare occasions.

I also agree that 3 factions means that you can only play with 1/3 of the population... but since the entire population is on one mega server that's a lot of people.

So all in all, grouping in this game is actually easier than most.
