Tank dies (I blame block bug) and bastion runs and grabs tank like a beast.

Otherwise if you had a taunting companion out the whole time, wouldn't the taunts conflict with the player? Unless the owner of Bastian was really careful not to point him at the "real" boss.PC NA0 -
