DPS Calculator based on Level

So every game is different obviously, and there are add-ons like Recount that give you a general (albeit less accurate) idea of damage output, but it's so hard to figure out what you SHOULD be putting out at Level XX (as a DPS class).

I've played a ton of MMOs, but prior to ESO release, I was playing with Tera. In that game, each armor piece has an item level, so I basically realized that if my total Item Level is twice my current level than I'm doing alright. If it's 3 times more than my current level than I'm sitting' pretty with a tiara on my head.

I guess what my question would be is.. in ESO, how would you "measure" how well you're doing based on your current level? If you could put it into an equation or something. (ie: every Level you should be outputting an additional 20 DPS)

Personally, you are doing well if you have enjoyed your time playing the game. If you are keen to feel like you are playing the mechanics well I guess you could have keeping your main stats (max stam/mag +regen) on the cusp of overcharge each level.

As your max stat affects the power of your abilities it will naturally increase your dps to its optimal for your level.

By uninstalling any program that reduces my performance to a number.

Even if there were an accurate damage meter out there, it would be useless at telling you how well you're doing. You may be doing less damage than some idiot who stands in all the AoEs and makes things a living hell for your healer. You may be doing less damage because you were tasked to adds. You may be doing less damage because your build is a hybrid instead of some attempt to recreate an old WoW character.
