Possible future animal companions?

A guildmate just gave this one an interesting idea.

What if a future companion were a talking animal - say a rabbit or a pig or a dog?

Admittedly you could not use a costume or outfit.

You would also need to explain they were under some sort of enchantment and could therefore still use companion armour and weapons.

I mean what this one really wants is a khajiit companion but would not a talking pig also be most awesome?

This one is interested to know your thoughts.

No, I don’t want it.I want Animal companion but not talking one at least the animal that don’t talk in TES lore.

I hope so, so bad. Probably my most favorite character in ESO is Caska from Dragonguard. If she becomes a companion, I'd be so happy.

Also, my irl dog and I make a fairly effective team and I'd love to LARP us in a fantasy world!

Also I think that animal companions would be a good middle ground for two very common player types / requests

1.) WoW hunter clones, and,
2.) Introverts that want to use the companion system but do not like their character having a second person with them, either for RP preference, generalized social anxiety, or simply they find random NPC banter to be cringy / annoying.

Honestly, I find that talking animals like pigs don't fit Tamriel. The only talking animals like dogs and crows are of Daedric origin. Animals would be just another form of Warden Bear.

For that Zenimax could forge the "taming" skill line if they ever wish to..
It might be fun to choose between different animals with different perks (resists, bursts, venom.. etc etc)
Requires a thorough designing and a lot of efforts implementing though..

Alfiq fit the bill perfectly imo.

An Alfiq companion is something I would definitely love to see implemented.

(Honestly, I would actually love to play as an Alfiq but can't see that ever being implement sadly.)

I know a lot of people love Alfiq, but I have to admit that I find them strange.

An animal companion with costumisable skills would be nice (though I don't see it being able to heal or deal magicka damage) not talking though.

Animal companions -- something realistic, like a wolf or eagle, that's surreptitiously equipped would be okay. No talking though and no outrageous BS like all the glitzy mounts and non-combat pets. The game is already immersion-breaking with all the mobile sparklies that appeal to the "look at me" type of player.

Well the Warden class could do with more animal companions. With wolf, lion, eagle, deer, saber cats etc etc.

Edit. If animal companions are giving to all other classes then wardens class spec animal companion will be pointless and the class needs to be reworked. So its better for warden to get more animal companions to choose from, all being saved in the "collections" UI and in the "Special" List were we change the bear from brown to grey.

If the Animal talks, it's not an Animal.

I could dig it, but I don't think it fits within the template ZoS implemented in the game. Companions have their core class skills, plus weapons & guild skills that relates to the player. To introduce animals would require something divergent from those systems. Different armor, different weapons, different (more limited) skills.

With that said however, I would definitely want a Blackfeather Court companion that trash talks the featherless peasants and lands on my shoulder when not in flight/combat. Max rank gives increased chance for shinny loot, and his ultimate would summon a murder of crows. I'd give up my current companions for that

An Senche-raht or Alfiq could work, they are not real animals but four legged Khajiit.
The Senche-raht could double as an mount

We have plenty of Senche-raht combat animations as they are used as enemies in Elsweyr including sunspire.
Not sure we have enough for Alfiq but they would be pure mages anyway.
Else we get into non combat pet territory fast.

Please forgive him he is very young and very much like his father.

This would be as awesome as an Alfiq ball of claws (my neighbors new kitten) who has sneaked into my house and rakes my mouse hand while I try to play

I would like a crow or cat, maybe a lizard and various other beasties as companions. Yes Please!

Preferably with other companion quirks, Alfiqs love alcoholic drinks, crows like murder (Blade of Woe) etc

We can't even get skins for our own werewolves, I don't see ZOS being willing to invest any time in that. Although it would be cool. Imagine getting killed by guards because your companion saw you kill a bug and got so mad she transformed in town! Lol!
