vSO Mechanics After FoA Explained

Poison Blast: This mechanic used to be heavily ignored in previous patches. It did trash damage and healers easily outhealed it. After FoA, poisons developed a Vicious Death type mechanic. When a player dies, they violently explode for roughly 17k damage in a small AoE. If other players are in that AoE, they take 17k damage roughly. Now, let's say we are stacked in a group. We will all have the poison DoT. Now, if one of us dies, everyone takes 17k damage in the stack. If, by chance, another player is killed by this Poison Blast AoE, they also explode for another 17k damage. This means the stack takes 34k damage. Now, this is well above the health of most DPS and this means more players will explode and inevitably everyone explodes on each other and dies. This is absolutely critical for the second and third boss fights. You must soft stack or avoid dying at all costs.

Stonebreaker: The supposed hardest boss in the game, now. How to complete it. The main tank should grab the boss. The off-tank must stand very far back from the group. One healer and four dps will stand on each side of the boss up to 180 degrees to his side. It is critical that each group loosely stack to avoid the Poison Blast should someone die. It is also critical the off-tank stays far enough back and the dps far enough forward to avoid the Troll's leap. This formation should make the boss fight much much easier.

Ozara: This boss should also have a half circle loose stack on the boss for dps and healers. This avoids everyone being chain killed by Poison Blasts. If unpinning somone, use a shield in case you are too slow and they die.

I hope this helps people complete this trial finally and more easily in the FoA update.

    Its really not a hard trial and trials in general are not bad. I think the key is finding a group of people who are team-oriented. Trials are all about the team. Healers and tanks buff and debuff to support the dps. The dps burn bosses and mechanics to make it easier for tanks and healers to sustain. Someone dies? Everyone corrects as needed to get the rez. Try out normal trials first. They are very very forgiving. Then, try finding a trial guild that has some requirements but aren't crazy about their requirements. For example, some guilds as for 80 or even 90k dps from their damage dealers. This is great, but overkill. Find one that asks for maybe 60k or 65k. No less than this in my experience. Find a guild that expects healers and tanks to have some sets but not necessarily is expecting them to know everything right away. Those kinds of guilds exist and they often love teaching trials to newer players who are ready to take the next step in organized PvE.

    Why people who like META always try to make problems there where it is no problem at all ?

    It is easy to close by 6 people like before or with random group with any people who can hear and 1 good tank and 1 good DD.

    Better to write it while people do not start looking 300K + DD for it to kill it while it did not have yet time to jump.

    Yes, they made the Poison Blast much more potent from my experience.

    Use an app like Draw and show us. Also, who is making problems? Its a simple strategy that makes the fight easy.

    Groups will probably need at least 1 warden for the passives and expansive frost cloak. The same top tier raid people will have no problem clearing this trial. But as of now, this trial isn’t a cakewalk.

    If there was a boss in this game that knew how to animation cancel, that would be the troll boss lol. I mean he can jump attack while firing his avalanche mechanic at the same time. The avalanche can 1 shot people and that’s the ground line aoe that you have to avoid. BUT if you move to avoid but accidentally stack against another player who has the poison blast debuff, you both are dead.

    Idk why they keep changing this trial. Remember when Templar jabs was stealth nerfed and nothing was mentioned on the patch notes? Maybe vSO was stealth buffed and nothing was mentioned in the patch notes. Idk, my 2 cents.

    All you need to pass is make tank take ADS away, stack boss near as example left wall if a bridge, stuck behind it and put 1 fat DD as side kiter 22-28 meters away from boss ... .

    Now if the group clumps up it's like a bomber hitting a RSS flag in cyrodiil... bodies everywhere. From the boss poison, not the adds.

    This kind of confirms what I thought. The leap from the boss was not buffed. It is the poison blast that got buffed so if the boss happens to leap and kill someone in the stack, they blow up and everyone dies.

    It do not really confirm anything, may be it depends on number of people with poison in stuck and etc.

    If you test it with different conditions - than it will be confirm.

    I'm the first one to admit I have a LOT to learn yet, but I nearly choked on my salad when I read "maybe 60k or 65k" (NVM 80k - 90K FML!?)...

    I thought I was doing ok DPS in overland but holy heck, I'm nowhere even close to those numbers :(

    Like HOW are ppl getting DPS that high, if I could do even half those numbers I'd feel amazing :/

    They're testing on a buffed raid dummy that simulates optimized trial conditions. Self-buffed on one of the smaller dummies anything over 35-40K is reasonably good, over 45K is elite. Or used to be.

    Overland DPS is not comparable to dummy parses, the conditions are not the same.
