Gear grinding and RNG

My friend and I have been trying to get a Titanborn Maul for 3 days, queuing with randoms. 1st day he did 12 hours of gear grinding. 2nd day both of us did 5 hours. We both have every single titanborn piece except for the maul. 3rd day we did another 3 hours and I finally got the maul, but my friend wasn't that lucky. He grinded for another 5 hours and gave up.

Some people do it once and gets what they want. Others do it 200+ times and don't get what they want. Why isn't there a middle ground? I understand the RNG aspect, but it's ridiculous that ZOS still hasn't implemented a system to reduce the time consuming aspect of gear grinding.

A system that reduces the gear grinding time would be a huge quality of life change, and I think would receive a lot of positive feedback from the community.

HA! hahaha imagine a couple of years ago we didn't have the sticker book or the transmute system. Things are 200 times easier to grind now than it used to be.

Imagine veteran Maelstrom arena when you didn't get the weapon unless you did vet and you had to keep going until you found the exact piece of gear you wanted.|

Yea I played back in the days as well. Doesn't make it any less bad though.

This isn't even the hardest grind. Wanting a specific weapon from a maelstrom 5 piece set was the hardest grind. Getting an infused winterborn shock staff is like once every 10.000 runs bc last chest doesent even give you a weapon with 100% chance and you have no other way of dropping those weapons then last chest.

it was even worse. IIRC when the MA was introduced not only you had to grind the "correct" trait of weapons (which was at the time Sharpened) but also those weapons weren't guaranteed even on veteran. meaning even though you did it on veteran you still only "had a chance" of getting a Maelstrom weapon..

RNG is a gambling mechanic: I'll wager my 30 minutes of time for the small chance of getting the drop I want. No different from a fruit machine other than the initial investment is time rather than money.

Of course you can choose not to play, which is fine if the mechanic is attached to winning a glowing panda mount that breathes fire, but not when it's attached to an item that people need to remain somewhat competitive.

Every time you complete an activity a +1% drop chance should be added to the items you currently do not have in your sticker book for that activity. It might take you near to 100 runs but you will get your Medusa fire staff.

If you're guaranteed a return on your investment then it's no longer gambling.

As long as your addicted to the grinding gamble, that means you're logged in and there's a greater chance you'll throw money at the Crown Store. Nobody who designs these games cares how you feel about it.
