Server condition next week

Hey all, I have next week off! Not 'because' of the release of Blackwood, just what some would call a happy coincidence!

I've not been around before for a roll-out of an expansion in ESO, but I know from other MMO experience how they can go. I was just wondering if any vets could offer their opinion on next weeks rollout so I can decide whether I should stick around and wait in queues, or go out and enjoy the sun!? :)

Thanks

    No one knows.
Also depens on what server you are playing.Last year for example on the release day of Greymoor,PC EU didn't get to play the whole day while NA could jump in after the extended maintenance.

    Total ESO playtime: 8325 hours
    ESO plus status: Cancelled
    ESO currently uninstalled.

The last two chapter launches were... rocky. I would say not to count on being able to play, enjoy other plans if you have some, and that way if you can get a little play time in, it'll be a bonus! :)

as they lost 20% of their players in the last 30 days according to steamcharts, it might not be as terrible as the last two times.

On consoles I guess even more players left because of the inventory issues.

A disaster on launch day is the MMO norm in general.

Yeah, fears recognised right there :P

Thanks folks, I think I'll look at playtime as a bonus

    Appreciate it,

I'd expect to be able to play on Wednesday at the earliest, possibly later depending on how the update goes.

As a general rule, I never expect to play much or at all on update day, not just because of the downtime but because there's often issues after the servers go live, and we usually get extended maintenance. That being said, there have been patches where downtime wasn't very long, and we didn't get extra maintenance, so you never know.

I can't remember last time launch date was playable, best bet to have zero disappointment is to have an eye on forums and have a break for about 2-3 days at least. No expectations - no regrets.

Since it is a big launch, don't expect to play to much. For one the patch has to go flawless, which is basically never the case, which strips Tuesday completely. Then there will be a ton of people who want to play instantly, what usually kills the server on the second day, Wednesday also gone. If we are unlucky Servers will go down for Maintenance on Thursday then to fix all the issues. Then its Friday already, there you can maybe play. And Weekend should be fine.

At the time of Greymoor release, PCEU was down for 30-ish hours over the course of 4 days. Keep this in mind and have a back-up activity.

This. I expect problems on Tuesday with a chance of delay until Wednesday. I also expect a hot fix or server maintenance some time in the first week after launch. We stand an excellent chance to encounter a severe bug that was missed/ignored, like with the console UI issues, but they won't be able to fix it for days, probably 2 or 3 weeks, due to console release and next gen console taking up all the QA time.

In other words, just another Tuesday at ZOS.

The reach update was horrible, but this was mostly because performance update broke lots of dungeons, trials and DSA.
Skyrim had downtime and some weird bugs.
Hint Nords tend to get drunk and mess up stuff but Khajiit are smooth.

Now as main feature are companions and no other system changes outside of proc set changes I don't see Reach level issues. But still monday you will not play much.

I cancelled my raid for monday evening -> It's not worth the risk -> Server login queues etc -> No thank you!

I'd expect it to come together around Wednesday as someone else said in the thread.

    My experience....
Morrowind- abysmal lag for weeks after release. Pretty much unplayable.
Summerset- Same weird lag spikes for months that didnt seem to be related to server population or how busy an instance was
Elsweyr & Skyrim- no major issues that I can recall.

This is my first go at what is potentially several days of outage. Do they do anything with daily rewards? Some of those are pretty good. Seems like the gold is at the end of the month though. I'd rather lose poisons.

When they forced us all to reinstall the game they cut the daily rewards of at 3 weeks iirc. They'll have do that or just give rubbish the last few days at a guess.

Chapter installs go fine for me. The last three summer dlcs The server went down at like 10pm eastern, patch was available to download 1-2am eastern and I had it ready to go before the servers went live at 5am eastern.

No, I didn't stay up all night for it. 5am eastern is 9pm time.
