Why are milk and eggs not provisioning ingredients/furnishings

Maybe it's just me, but it seems odd that milk and eggs are not provisioning ingredients. Especially considering there are a lot of cake foods you can make.

Granted, I suppose it's too late to add them in any meaningful way, but it's odder still that there aren't any furnishings for our houses that feature milk or eggs (can you imagine how cool it would be to make a farm and have eggs in nests and buckets of milk?). The only exception to the rule appears to be the two fried egg dishes for the Solitude style. (And not even a milk drinker's cup to go along with it!)

Is Zenimax allergic to eggs and lactose intolerant? :p

P.S. No, Chaurus eggs do not count. Chaurus are demonic chickens.

That's a very good point. What is life, without butter? How do people in Tamriel even live??

I don’t think I’ve seen a cow. I see plenty of cow skins but not a cow.

No answer for the milk or eggs.

Butter would be the end product of shaking the heck out of cream skimmed from milk.

    Two cows.

Kargen27 posted pics of a few cows, but even if there weren't cows, there are plenty of goats (lol at the Alik'r goat oasis). Goat milk is a staple in many parts of the world, and I imagine it would be similar for Tamriel.

    Plus....there's cheese.

    There's LOTS of cheese.

There's even a BOOK SERIES on cheese.

I have to question what they're making all this cheese out of :D

In TES Skyrim you could use an oven and bake cakes, breads and other things with butter, flour and berries etc. and you could also collect eggs from chicken. Different baking and cooking installations would also fit in ESO in the frame of the housing.

    There's that:

Also some cream jug in coming expansion, I think. Yea, milk and eggs are not much seen in provisioning and furnishings, strange . Must be fear of all that cholesterol :P

At the surface this is a very good question, however picking it apart reveals its flaws and reasons.
Butter, milk, eggs ect of course exist in tamriel, we've seen them in other titles, buy why not in ESO? Well think for a second about inventory, space is a resource, a commodity, morrso in mmos than other games because of the sheer ammount of content and updates too the game. Players start with a limited inventory and without eso+ that space can quickly get eaten up by materials. Knowing this zos had to make sure crafting was balanced in a way of material in to product out, yes real life cakes are made with more than 3 ingredients but do you REALLY want to haul around 3x the materials just for realism that isnt realism Anyway cause cooking in any TES game is stupid oversimplified. Yes any of our current materials could have been eggs or butter, or milk, but this is a fantasy game, why fill slots with the mundane ( and alot of slots already are mundane mind you) When you have things like guaranas jazbay grape and frost miriam.

ESO used to have many more ingredients prior to Update 6 (March 2015: Champion Points, Justice system, Provisioning revamp):

There's pig milk (of all things) and kwama eggs in there, at least.

Sure, space is limited. But if we can have beets and radishes, we could surely make room for milk and eggs.

(And I say that as someone who actually likes beets and radishes.)

Shame they got rid of so many of the ingredients, though this was before the craft bag was introduced, so I see why.

They should bring back some of them (for reasons mentioned in this thread).

I still have a number of "old" ingredients from back in the day.

"Old" Suet, "Old" Sifted Flour and "Old" Shank.

When I heard they were dropping a number of provisioning mats, I ran around and scrounged up as many as I could find.
Sold lots to collectors over the years.

But yes, you make a good point! If they can make room for the demon vegetable, then they can surely make room for milk and eggs. :p
