about problem for new players/new characters

maybe Im not a new players but well...this is problem for big majority of players and for sure misleading for new player

created new character,
literally fresh character with notning,
went for quest to go for basic tutorial in coldharbour,
got on way in glenumaba "do you know how long I have been looking for you"....
tried to ignore this and make trough coldharbour tutorial,
get back to glenumbra for basics, for starter of new characters lik guilds, craft dailys etc
got again "do you know how long I have been looking for you"....

instantly instead deleting character as I was still remembering I already upgraded some bacbbkack on this character I just teleported this character to main home with banker and chest close together to make this character as another mule for items I dont own yet to magazine on this character

all my willings to play new alt got screwed because of dlc/chapter/prologue quest starter NPC's SHOUTING AT YOU FROM FAR AWAY opressing you doesnt matter how new, how nothing yet you have on new character

I had already problem with these on already lvled alts going through vet content but not touched a single story quest and having these shouts every time I just enter to specific zones with them with interest other than questing

but on new character it is even more annyoing! I just get to this world! ok, lets go help your old friends, companions to defeat new/old enemies and safe world!...uhhh hello? I havnt done a single quest yet, havnt meet literally anyone with who I could team to safe worlds in quest
like five companions from main story appearing in last dlc's/chapters but I havnt even rescued them from coldharbour?

if they need to be so badly on top in zone, in place impossibe to miss them or if it cant be done anything to hide from for new characters then maybe gicve me an option I woudl gladly use - make option to literally skip all this story for these new quests with old NPC's once you got it done by other character on account, make it their old main story was already done by another adventure (my other character) so they are here already "again" without touching even a single quest from their story before

I've decided my character is just so dang handsome that NPCs will try anything to strike up a conversation and I ignore them.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

I wish I was able to ignore such things without need to mute unfortunatelly fully dialogue in game
without mentioning just spammed compass by quest marks in these started places

As a recent newbie to this game, I wish there was an option to hide all prologue/dlc quests from popping up in every city/town I go to until I'm ready to do them. I already completed one of the prologue quests not realizing it until after. I eventually became familiar with the names/dialogue but still, it's annoying every time I talk to a quest npc and it's one of those quests. It's definitely not beginner-friendly when all you want to do is go through everything in order. Granted, it's not hard to google "eso quest order guide", but it also doesn't seem that hard to put something in game to direct players better.

At least, they're changing the terrible tutorial system next patch even though it won't help me much since I already went through the rite-of-passage of googling everything that the game doesn't tell you.

Me: *just ported over from Skryim, the only zone I've been to, and the zone I've yet to complete*
Stuga: "Do you know how long I've been looking for you?!"
Me: *jerks back, looks around for whoever this orc must actually be looking for*
Me: *blinks, points thumb at self* "Me? Um, you're looking for ME?" *nervous* "...... Why?"

Ok, this wasn't my first character. It was the character I created to 're-learn the game from the ground up, before attempting to play again on my lvl 50s' when I recently started playing again after 2 years away. So, I remembered Stuga, and I remembered hating Stuga. I've been annoyed by other 'run up and shove a quest in your face' NPCs, but Stuga was the only one I hated. Stuga was the only one that made me seek out a mod so that I didn't have to hear her again. Sure, there are many other 'hear them so much you want to drill holes in your eardrums' NPCs, and with Stuga you can at least shut her up by accepting the quest, but I think the reason I hate her in specific is the simple fact of what it is that she says. That she's looking for your character in specific, no matter how completely inconsequential they are in the game. It might make sense that she'd look for someone well known, someone who's done something that might cause rumors to spread and something to cause your character to actually have been heard of in a real situation. But, no... she's looking for your player character no matter their level or renown. That makes just absolutely no sense, and is jarring every single time.

I really don't understand why you can't just accept the quest from Stuga and then you have peace? It is much more annoying when all the quest givers of all chapters are gathered in the guilds, which mess up the whole order ...

    Totally agree with this!

For players new to the game: It is worth it to google how to play everything in order, as the game is a lot of fun! Don't let things like this chase you away.

Accepting all those dlc quests gets them out of your way but quickly fills your puny quest log. What we need is to bump the quest log up to 50 or 100 and include a section we can drag quests to for 'Maybe later' to stay focused on our current zone/questline.

it wont solve problem which is in game and it wont solve problem because of quest limit in log - no I have no intentions to play this quest line, not this single quest becasue lets say this character was not created to run through orisnium

and to just accept quest to get rid oif quest marker along with npc we would need to have additional 15-20 quest slots in log or special bookmark for prologue/dlc/chapter quest starters to get rid from every of them

as stuga is only just most aggressive, most annyoing npc of those it doesnt mean rest of npc's like this are not a problem

@Lugaldu The journal have a quest max of 25. There are what, 11 prologue quest in the game at present, plus the MG and FG ones which you get bothered with too. Which means if you want peace you have to accept only having 12 quest slot available for everything, including writs and dailies. And the number of quest slots hijacked by prologue quests will only continue to grow.
And this completely overlooks people who prefer to only have things in the quest journal they intend to do in the near future.

Your solution is no solution at all.

Well, developed by Zeni, published by Bethesda. I was referring to the common ethos of "throw-everything-at-the-fan."

I had that problem in my mind too, however, not all quest givers are as pushy as Stuga - except maybe "Dragons, in your own homeland?!"

Not only that, some prologues send you all over Tamriel. A handful of them do have helpful means of transportation 'built in' but that is not the case with all of them.

This is potentially a 'lesser' issue for 'established accounts' who may have ways around it (by porting to guildies/friends for instance) although that would depend on how 'sociable' one is or isn't however it definitely can be overwhelming for new accounts.

Even I find it overwhelming at times on 'starter cities'; many of my 18 characters have not done the prologues and is just bonkers with ludicrous amounts of audible prompts and quest markers everywhere.

Taking the quests is not an option because I need the 'space' for writs, PvE and PvP dailies etc and I have no intention to do the prologues 18 times, TYVM.

I don't think so. Single player Skyrim; once you added the dlc/expansions, vampire attacks happened. More npcs in my games were taken out by the vampire attacks than the random dragon visits. Bethesda Games Studios were responsible for that one.

I agree that is annoying that I follow a story prompt into a capital city only to have fifty NPCs yell at me to follow another story prompt leading me away from the zone I was working in. Can't you put these NPCs in their own sections and make them stop chasing and screaming? I wanna take care of this dog following me around first before believing in dragons and going to the Gold Coast, etc.

However, I will pick up the quest in Summerset on all my alts because I personally don't care whether or not some Altmer thinks it's droll that an Orc isn't up to date on the Altmer code of dueling everytime I run between the stables and writ place. Won't do the quest but I need that guy to shutup on 18 toons.
