No flaps on the crotch or butt. What exactly is the function of flaps, portable toilet paper? Seems like something that would be most unfortunate to have in battle, enemies can grab 'em, they can get stuck on things... is there any other function to them but to look ugly?

No things on the hips. The mini shield ones. You know. Those. On the hips. No.

    Ability to hide shoulder armor.

More tiny armor for the ladies and gents alike. The sexier the better.

    Less leather obsession.

Seriously, we have leather over cloth, leather with plate armor, leather under chainmail, leather over chainmail, leather over leather, leather hanging from leather, etc. I swear ESO’s designers cannot fathom armor that doesn’t involve at least 25% leather.

What about cloth? Would robes and jerkins that are cloth without leather breastplates be too much to ask? What about the variety of historical cloth armors that can be used for inspiration? Cloth is lovely. It can be light. It can be padded together. And, it dyes nicely. More cloth and textiles would be nice. Especially where light armor is concerned.

    TLDR: MORE CLOTH, LESS LEATHER

    Yes. ;3

Like... they don't need to add bikinis or anything... just something that doesn't have quite so many frills as the current 'skimpy' options.

Get rid of hip flaps and crotch flaps (or at least provide a toggle to hide them).
Believe it or not, there is already the option to hide tassets and loin cloth. Interestingly enough, if you look in the ESO API, the option is there. The tassets/loin cloth is (hidden) under Settings-> Gameplay in the same spot where you can hide mount appearance features and polymorph helm. The ability to hide other armor pieces like shoulders, etc are in the same spot as the "Hide Helm" option at dye stations but they as well are still hidden/locked out (shoulders, etc). All of these options have been there for years.

Case and point, it's there, it's just not enabled for players. I would have to guess one big reason "why" we don't have these options yet is the endless controversy of hiding armor pieces other than a helmet. Some of the same people that boast "let people enjoy things" are the same ones that double-standard it because of the potential to inconvenience their ideal "standard" since people might just end up running around in their digital underwear. :o Thing is, people already do this anyway by taking their armor off. Personally, I have a feeling extending more options with character customization design to how anyone personally wants their character to appear would FAR outweigh the latter worries in a positive way and benefit everyone in the longrun.

No more hip armor, deceease the current trend of fur on armor, let us completely hide each piece of armor. Make the dyes the same color on all the same types of materials (all metal/cloth/leather should be same color with other metal/cloth/leather)

The hide tassets/cloth part is pretty insightful but kinda puzzling as why it isn't enabled yet being so controversial to the community. I personally cringe at every "remove it from the game" post but it gives us a lot of customisation options to fit different tastes without brut forcing anyone on a matter.

I'll never understand what the problem with the flaps is, I think it looks good. Take, for example, the Roman pteryges, metal-studded leather strips that hung from the belt in the crotch region. They also had no real function and were only there mainly for decoration.

No more undyable bits, please. Some of its okay, especially if it's just smaller parts of the armor but I don't use certain armor types (Jephrine paladin in particular!) because I can't dye them to match the rest of the outfit. I'd also like more dye/colour consistency between different armor pieces. One dye might look a certain way on one piece of armor, then look completely different on another piece. It makes mixing different motifs a pain.

That's probably the only real issue I have apart from actually broken/misaligned stuff. Not sure why it's a problem to give some parts a new dye slot (especially if it uses only 2 of 3) or combine some as they are doing it already in lots of motifs. Those undyeable scarfs/clothing and golden bits and pieces, ugh.

The most important thing: Make all gear use the same shaders for the same materials. Currently many styles use more or less diffferent shaders for the same material. This means if you mix styles and make all metal parts for example red you notice that you dont get the same red on all parts. It can go from a light red all the way to a dark one. This makes mixing styles a pain.

Other than that i like the front flaps, but i think we generally need better backs. I like the skirt like extensions some heavy armors have (Hollowfang for example) but some like welkynar just look ugly and feel empty.

I also think that some more armor parts for heavy armor would be nice. Some pieces look like leather with some small plates, while we realy lack heavy armors that go into the full plate direction.

    Simple for me.....

    1. Optional hip tassets
    2. Optional shoulders (“hide shoulders” same as “hide helm”)
    3. Optional crotch flaps (no idea what the historical name is).

Too many styles have badly fitting or just horrendous shoulders, so I’d like the option to ditch them altogether. The same is true for the hip tassets which are almost all over the top and add unnecessary bulk. Many of the crotch flaps add nothing to the overall look and appear really quite impractical, not to mention they often swing around and glitch on everything else.

Butt flaps, crotch flaps, hip flaps, they all need to PERISH.
I love the few armors we have that have like, a mini skirt thingie or even just ends at the waist and nothing weird and floaty about it.

On some armours, they look okay. But there's no reason to have them on the majority of pieces.

And most pteryges are shorter than the long dangly bits that ESO has, they're often not just between the legs but more skirt-like, and they dangle realistically, on account of them being real. I've had several attempts at outfit creation where there were dangly bits that looked okay but flapped around while moving in such a distracting way that I got rid of them.

    ---
@topic: optional or removed dangly bits ("crotch flaps"). Some forms of tassets are okay on heavy armour pieces - but again: ESO has a tendency to go totally overboard with those. (I mean, what the hell were they thinking when designing higher-tier Khajiit robes?!?) So make those optional as well, or delete them from existence.

Give us our boob armor back.
No, I'm not kidding. I'm not a prepubescent male with a pixel fetish.

Extent the "hide helmet" ability to other pieces such as the crotch/butt/hip ***, or give us more visual choices in leg armor.

Make dyed leather look better. Hardly any dies look good on leather.

    Fewer un-dyable parts on armor.

Better explanation at the outfit station for how dye channels work. It's possible that I'm crazy or just haven't used the outfit station in a very long time, but I remember inconsistencies in which channel is which. On one piece, the #1 (leftmost) channel is the main or largest part of the armor, but on another piece that same channel is just a detail. Also, some pieces appear to have only two visible channels although you still have three slots to put dye on.

It would be really cool if there were a couple more options while customizing outfits:
    • toggle hip flaps, knee and elbow pads (mainly to avoid clipping)
    • slider for up/down and in/out shoulder pieces (non-floating shoulder pieces)
    • surface finish for matt/gloss/metallic (better matching colors and surface finishes)

Forgot to mention in my earlier post--shoulder scaling needs to be redone. There's no reason for the same shoulder piece to be huge on a male toon and teensy on a female toon to the point where they look ineffective. A well-muscled woman has shoulders, it's not unfeminine looking. They look silly as they are now, I had to use the motifs with shoulder pieces that look too big on my male toons just to look normally fitted on my female toon.

I'd also like if there wasn't so much empty float space between tassets and hips. If one is wearing tassets to protect their flanks, there's little point to leaving a 3-inch gap that could easily be stabbed through. I know pokethrough is a thing but it doesn't need THAT big a margin.

For me it would be enough if they:

    1. Activated the options to hide shoulders, tassets and flaps for player use.
    2. Retouched the racial styles and some older styles slightly, so that they would look a little less worn/dirty.

It baffles the mind that they actually do have the hide options coded, but don't allow us to use them. Why on earth?

I've seen suggestions in the forums that without the flaps the characters' crotch/hip area would look wrong for some reason related to character skeletons (or some such) and that without tassets the weapons would float uglily around the hips. Neither of these holds water. There are a few styles that have neither tassets nor flaps, like Sapiarch chests, and the characters wearing them look just fine. Besides, weapons floating a bit above the hip wouldn't look any uglier than them clipping through the tassets, like now. So, it seems just ill-willed not to make those hide options available, even though they exist. I'd want very much to hear ZOS's explanation. It's such a small change that is much wished for, and still they won't give us that. It makes no sense.
