Im playing in 5 guilds atm.

4 of those are trading guilds i have muted , so i wont speak about these ones.

But on my last one , which still got like 200 players or something , people are quite nice in general and work together without a problem , had no problem at all until now , the chat is actually quite funny and lively.

Find a guild you can fit in mate , i know it is not an easy find to make , but it is possible.

I have had very bad experience with guilds, so bad that I am not joining any any longer, except for trade guilds in this particular game.

But as to Trade Guilds, I find this simply does not work. I can never find anything in all the trade guilds to buy. Occasionally, very occasionally I find one item (i.e. no variety) but most of the time I feel like something is not working because after search nothing pops up. I then change my request level to 1 to 50 just to see if it works and maybe two items in that range pop up.

A large MMORPG simply cannot function without a decent auction house!!!

I have been actively promoting my crafting but you simply cannot get enough green items made even for yourself because there are not enough upgrades. Usually I make stuff for my level for myself all white and maybe one with an upgrade. That sucks.

I think pre wow, Guilds were groups of players, who played together, they then expanded, inviting players in general, whilst vetting them to become members.

With the advent of wow, being a guild master, was prestige in itself, so guilds became the rage, who had the biggest was the coolest. They just became huge groups of people all talking over each other, eventually groups would break off and form their own guilds (the elitists usually)

Elitists are only hard core players, they can be hard core in pve, pvp or grinding specific items. They tend to create characters with the best possible dps output and almost always ignore any form of tradition or roleplay. In my experience, elitist often bought gold and cheated with bots. The drug is coming first and being the best and it doesn't matter how you get there.

The common result therefore, is if you are not hardcore.. you are ignored.

I would suggest, you make your own guild.. and see just how rapidly. you become an elitist.. because being a guild master, can be extremely annoying and tedious.

I've formed guilds with the intent to help people, but after months of listening to people whinging and whining.. you can feel your own spirit being sucked out of you. It takes a special kind of person to be a good guild officer or leader and it will always show within the guild, who has good leaders and officers and who doesn't.

Thus atm, I am in a guild of 2 people.. can't even access the bank until we find 8 more..

With respect to the post above mine, my comments are in general. I would also consider myself an elitist of sorts. Or maybe a perfectionist.. thus I don't follow the usual rules. Since perfection can mean many different things.

I'm in 2 trade/pve/pvp guilds and they both are not elitist in the slightest. I've had nothing but a good experience apart from the odd person that decides they will take out their rage on all the guild but they are swiftly dealt with.

SOME guilds are like that. There are all types of guilds. Casual guilds, hardcore guilds, PvE guilds, PvP guilds, Raid guilds, general guilds, crafting guilds, trading guilds, RP guilds....etc.

The trick is to sift through all those other guilds that don't mesh well with your play style. I remember thinking the same in WoW when I played it at first. Finally, after about 3-4 months, I found a really awesome small guild full of awesome people that were a blast to play with. Unfortunatly, I had to sift through a lot of....S*** (for me anyway) guilds to find them.

There will be drama, but if you join a guild and get into TS or vent (where the "core" guild members are) and generally like them, it's probably a good fit for you. In my experience, while not 100% unlikely, the "core" members of a guild are the higher ups and have little drama associated with it.

Every online game has that "elitist" problem for me. I just keep joining/dropping guilds until I find a good fit. I can't speak for a RP guild (as I'm not interested in it tbh, kudos to you though), but a lot of the "smaller" guilds tend to be more open to lower leveled players etc.

Don't give up, guilds are awesome...once you find a good one.

I would echo what a lot of other posters have already said. This applies to both guilds for gameplay and guilds for trade. There are a lot of guilds out there and I do mean a LOT. No matter what you're into, you'll be able to find somebody out there who likes it too. It may take a bit of effort on your part to find a good one, but it's worth it.

Don't like a trade guild's prices? Nothing on there you actually want to buy? Quit it and find another.

Accidentally joined a guild full of trolls, who only want to exploit broken mechanics? Quit it and find a group of chill like-minded people. Most non-trade guilds (and even some trade guilds) have web sites. You could probably do a little searching and find a community you like.

Coming from a few FPS games myself, I'd liken the guild search to the server search. It takes a bit to sift through all the crappy ones to find a really good, active community that you mesh with. But they are there and well worth looking for.
