having them compleatly despawn in citys might not work as they could provide unique diologue or even quests in certain citys, however i do think we should not see everyones companions only those in our group.

Let it be selectable per character. I might not want to see everyone else's companions, but someone else might want to.

    Companions should..

1.) Despawn in pvp content of all kind
2.) Be visible to its owner everywhere, and optional (default=off) be visible by anyone outside
3.) Be allowed to be more than 1 per player in instanced content, to allow group content soloing

If someone invests the effort, up to 11 companions for trials should be possible. Or up to 3 companions for group dungeons. World bosses should scale to the number of players and companions battling them.

Yes, I can't make it to a HS as it is with all the lag that goes on so adding 100+ NPCs all doing attacks will set my PC on fire

The pets don't bother me too much, if one happens to be in my way, I move to a position where its not in my way. I play Warren most of the time and I will remove my bear when in public areas so Its not in the way.

There's bigger issues on a console level that needs to be addressed and ZOS is dragging their feet on those.
Everyone is going in one direction, I'm going the other direction

    Despawn all Companions in cities
Voted for the red option, hoping it will become the blue one.

If you want to see my companions (and (combat)pets), that's fine with me. Your choice, your loss. But I do not want to see yours. Maybe I want to see the ones of my groupmembers too, but that's it. So visibility of other players companions (and (combat)pets) should be the players choice (preferable turned off by default) and not something that's being forced upon us without the option to turn it off/on. In the beginning, it looks like fun to see an entire crafting area filled with over 50 clones of the companions, but after a while you wish you could only see your own ones.

The powers that be have heard.
Things they are testing from the new PTS notes:

Only showing your Companion or the Companions of group mates when in high population areas (i.e., cities)
    De-spawning all Companions in Cities
De-swawning Companions during extreme high population encounters (i.e., Harrowstorms or Dragons)
Please keep in mind these are just tests and that there may be more after this first batch as we measure impact. These tests are vital for us and will help determine what we will do for Live.

You can't despawn companions in cities, as we need to set their stats/skills and gear them. This would be a real inconvenience if this could only be done outside of cities. Where it isn't safe. Besides that, quests and other activities also take place inside of cities, so these companions need to be available for those who use them. Same goes for other pet types.

I'm for showing only your group's companions, and your own companions. And any other companions who are in combat, as players may want to help/join in.

I don't want to see other people's companions, combat pets or flying non combat pets.
Point of companions is to keep YOU company, not to show them off to players who have exact same ones and have no interest in seeing yours.

Edit to add: At the same time I see no point in full despawning, if they can just not show them.

I think the problem is many min hubs have questing involved that would be frustrating to have companions despawning and having to respawn them all of the time.

The problem I saw right away with companions despawning in cities is that when you're completing quests and collecting xp, the companion needs to be there to get xp also. Especially when doing the fighter's, undaunted and mage guild dailies to raise the companion's skill levels in those areas.

I think it's really important for companions not to despawn. Companions already despawn if you are to far away (because of a too fast mount) or if you are swimming.

If they would also despawn in cities, we would need to respawn them EVERY single time.

But I wouldn't have a problem with the solution, to show them only group members.

    Show Additional Ally Effects?
    On: Can see all Pets/Companions/Etc.
Off: Can only see your own Pets/Companions/Etc
New Theoretical Option- Group: Can only see Grouped Ally Pets/Companions/Etc.

These should also apply to non-combat pets.

This would give each individual further control over their experience within ESO, without disrupting anyone else's experience.
