In the UK, the first Monday of May is always a bank holiday.

Never stated anything about the Console's patch, only the PC patch :)

EDIT: apparently most of the world celebrate this... https://www.officeholidays.com/holidays/labour-day

Not only that, they 'skipped' maintenance last Monday, which was 'just any Monday' and plonked an 8 hour maintenance, from 9AM to 5 PM on a bank holiday Monday.

    That's just awesome.

At least they could do the maintenance [on the EU server] from 4 AM to to 12 PM UTC instead.

At least lockdown rules have eased up so I might be able to do other stuff, silver linings I guess.

It's also a holiday in Poland. 3rd of May is a celebration of the first Polish constitution. It was the second such document in the world, signed four years after the USA one, which was the first.

In Ukraine May 3rd and 4th are holidays this year, because of Labor day and Easter. Weekends don't cancel out holidays.

UK, it's the Early Spring public holiday, AKA May Day. It's always the first Monday in May.

Did Zos ever mentioned why they can't do 2 separate maintenances for the EU and NA servers? I mean when there are problems going on like EU sever nor working or NA server having problems they take them down separatly too,so why the weekly maintenance can't be done seperate from each other too?

    Total ESO playtime: 8325 hours

    [snip]

Is a company that operates in Europe with European customers and European employees.

Should European employees work according to the the company's US headquarter holidays and timezone too?

I presume they should abide by US law as well.

Given your position I guess your answer to all of those is 'yes, deal'.

So what is the point of releasing the game in other countries if they don't cater towards them? They would have a day of increased traffic, maybe even have people trying out the game, if they didn't have maintenance during the day. As a business, it makes zero sense to do this.

In the Netherlands may 5th is liberation day(bevrijdingsdag). Most people and cities celebrate it, with major festivals in multiple cities.
Don't think this year will be much of a celebration, due to covid-19. Last year, there weren't any celebrations for the same reason.

ZOS should not change their patching schedule for any holidays though, as there is always a holiday somewhere.

Everyday is a holiday somewhere... Then we would have no maintenances ever xD
In Portugal, 5th of May is the worker day or labor holiday, something like that...

At least you get patch maintenance, console users get an actual broken game ui, and instead of patching and fixing anything we are expected to thank them for a broken non functional system and continue with subs, purchases, etc.

So I mean I would like to care you cant play eso on a holiday, but then lots of people are still in lockdown and can't actually go out and are looking at eso as distraction right now can't really play period and I just can't...

    That is what we do.

We patch one cluster, test it, then failover the live cluster without interruption of service and patch the other cluster.

In 2021 this is far from an alien concept or an extravagant one.

I do feel for you guys; I think ZOS's response to the issues caused by the latest patch in consoles is poor.

In Latvia, May 3-May 5th, Independence day+ Labour day. I think most European countries have some holidays on first days of May.

Yeah this again, not to mention that all orthodox christian countries are celebrating Easter + Labour day (may 1 and may 2) and this weekend was extended because of that.

In Spain it is holiday on monday too, and it wouldn't be that much of a hassle if they didn't do maintenance in the middle of the day. For some reason it always starts somewhere around 10am and can last up to 2-3pm, with the hassle that it is common many of us are unable to log in for hours right after the servers come back up.

Last I remember they are strictly employed in the US, they only have a data center in EU. Meaning when they push a patch to na it gets pushed to EU. You can't work around it even if you wanted to because then na and EU would be different game versions. Every other mmo goes by where it originated in terms of down time and us in na have to deal with it. Hell had never winter go offline at 12pm fir work.

So there is no reason for calling this megaserver EU? Shouldn't they renamed it to NA2?

It’s physically located in Germany, which last I checked is not in North America.

Oh no. I was so totally going to buy a ton of crown crates on Monday to celebrate the holiday! Guess I'll have to find some other MMO (with more customer friendly maintenance times) to celebrate with then.

2 weeks in a row here. Labour Day on the 1st Monday of May, plus ANZAC Day on April 25. Since that was a Sunday, the Monday was also a public holiday.
Edit: I think it's 10 days total in Australia. 3 of which are different in different states.
