Tanks, what's the most annoying thing players do when you are tanking for random groups?

For me when tanking pugs it is when players think because they are getting attacked by the boss, it's because I am not holding aggro. For example, today in my veteran Spindlecluth I pug, I had a player become very toxic towards me with messages because they were getting randomly attacked by the spider boss. I tried to explain that I am using the addon untaunted to keep 100% aggro but for the spider boss mechanics the boss does random attacks to the group players even though the tank has taunted the boss and currently holds aggro lol.

Same, bosses almost ALWAYS have random attacks aimed at the group instead of the tank by design. Players don't understand that at all.

Either that or when you're tanking and the group behind you dies somehow. Like to the random attacks or aoe that you can't do anything about. Fully taunted boss and adds and they still die.

That said, I don't tank for pugs. Only with friends or my guild.

Others who start the pull but pulls them over a distance and spread the trash over a wide area and stand at the back attacking one enemy...

I don't mind those who start the pull by charging in head first and melting everything.

DPS running ahead into the dungeon and taking aggro

Anyone getting trouble some aggro DURING the fight and not running to me so I can scrape the baddie off

DPS single targeting outliers and wasting time on them - and giving them immunity so when I try to pull them, I can't. Wastes time, wastes my lockdowns and wastes the healer's time and magicka

DPS not rezzing anyone who falls. That is NOT the healer's job, and it's not mine. (okay unless it's a necro healer who has the 'throwdown rez).
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Really hard to narrow it down. From casting any spells/ults right on top of the boss so I can't see him. Or pets that have some mob on the other side of the room so I can't chain it in. Or the dps that runs into the room AOE'ing everything which only scatters and gives cc immunity to the ranged mobs. Monster helms that spawn pets right in front of me. Anyone that runs far out of range anytime a boss even farts in their direction. People that stand at max range that will cause the boss to leap on them so I have to continually reposition the fight. People that only watch their rotation and never what's going on, like rezzing, standing in red or not interrupting that one shot pin. That's just a few off the top of my head.

In the case of sorcs atronach ult, it's possible to place it just to the side of the boss rather than in the tanks face.

Those big bright spells tend to have an AOE affect. Try casting the center of it behind and to the left or right of the tank so the boss is still in the ring of it, but the flash is behind the tank.

    1. Starting the boss fights before I'm ready
    2. Not knowing boss mechanics, the random attacks mentioned before especially, and blaming tank

This happens quite a lot. Players overestimate themselves, and think they do everything the right way, not realizing they are the ones slowing down the runs. It is sort of similar when DPS pulls, and I as a tank get blamed for not holding aggro.

And players that want to go fast fast fast, keep pulling more and more mobs, even when the group is not capable of it. Both slowing us down massively, and most of the time killing them.

PS: Why does it cost me soulgems, when other players die in mechanics or other stupid ways?... Shouldn't it cost them a soulgem? Aren't the rez time and being dead already enough of a punishment? As we are missing a player, and another player has to take the time to rez.

Running away when they have an add on them, please do the opposite and bring it to me, so can taunt and get it off you while I’m holding onto 5-7 other things as well.

Not doing mechs, I also dd and heal. Everyone has a role, please do it, plenty of guides online, if wanna relaxed chill run where do don’t have to do any of that do it in normal or run with friends that will carry you :)

apart from speedrun guys, i saw super new stuff few days ago - healer with Streak! Mobs get CC immune for a few seconds after Streak so you can't chain them!

That was probably one of the super rage annoying things i saw as tank.

Using the Maw of the Infernal, hands down, is the most annoying thing players do when I tank. Though I don't fault the player themselves. I fault the developers who designed it that way and who still haven't fixed it (hint hint).

Since the topic is about the most annoying things people say, it's when you're pug tanking Wayrest Sewers 2 and things are going painfully slow because you're doing 4k single target dps as a tank and that's 30% of the group damage and you're also doing all the mechanics the tank shouldn't do, you painfully clear the first boss, go into the next room and one of the DDs says: "All bosses please".
One can have a lot of patience, but everything has limits.

    Thanks!

But there are cases where that can be hard. If there's a synergy, you want the center of the spell to if anything be in the direction of the DDs. And of course, if there are adds, then you want the area to be appropriate for affecting them.

And of course, some spells just have a small radius.

    Just show them the difference.

    Say I tank now.

And then say - now i do not ! And do not agr for some small amount of time.

Let them fill the difference if it is some - they will see it i think.

"Behind the boss" makes a lot more sense to me than "behind the tank".

I don't think there's any fix to Maw of the Infernal other than simply not running that set.

    1. not knowing boss mechanics
    2. producing very low dps
    3. not knowing core combat mechanics (interrupt, break-free, dodge etc)

I dont really care about pets because thats usually a sign that there is some dps potential. Its still amazing to see how few players pay attention to the mechanics. Last boss of Icereach for example, before the fight I remind the group to interrupt the casters when they start channeling. In the fight everyone just runs around like a headless chicken and I end up interrupting all the casters.

As a tank Im use to the most, they can run ahead don´t care realy - I will and can take controll of the boss or whatever anytime.

Im in the dungeon for geos nothing else. If I go for items or the like I have guilds for that.

Pets and daedroths are a problem as you can´t chain and the flow of the run is broken. Often you can´t see the boss for all the flames and what not and have to move the boss around all the time.

I have the Maw of infernal set, but have never used it. It´s a solo set and have nothing to do in a dungeon, with three other people. Some may blame ZOS for the use of it, but at the end of the day it´s the player, who makes the decision to use it or not. Same goes for pale order ring. That ring is just the middle finger towards all healers in the game and is all about excludetions of other player´s, who have a main healer. Again att the end of the day it´s the player, who decide to use it in group content and not as intended in solo play.

Warewolfs are another funny thing you can encounter as a tank. For most parts they a in the way and bring nothing to the table other than alot of noise. i can see that Warewolfs sometimes give a boost to player´s, with lagg of self confidence - they are a good RP instrument as I see it and overated as dps, but hey at the end of the say it´s the player, who make the decision.

You have to remember one thing. A pug tank/healer are for the most groped with player´s, who have been through their guild for a tank or healer with no success and you are filling that spot You can also end up in agroup where the tank/healer have left.

Tanks and healers are maybe the most harassed rolls in ESO if you get a really bad pick. How about a dd in Tormentor gear or three Deadroth´s

Skilled player´s is an ejoyment. You don´t notice them you all jusst glide through the dungeon, no loosing taunt, no adds spawning behind bcase of speedster, with lagg of dps. Those pug runs are rare, but does happen from time to time and include some very skilled player´s and a very god attitude. I alway´s belive that with skill comes good attitude. Skill is for the most not about dps it´s about reading the game and what to come next and bring controll to caos

If you want more tanks into pugs an attitude change have to happen. Start as a good team player and accept, that you will have a chance to meet a player, who is better and there are healer´s and tanks among them. Put your competitive attitude aside (it´s PVe and not PvP) and accept you can´t be the best all the time and the harder you try, the greater the chance you will make the run harder.
