Event leads?

The antiquarian lovers amongst us need more leads. We've run out of fun things to excavate.

Events offer us lots of other goodies, why not special event-driven leads? Whether it's particular event-related treasures that you can excavate and sell, or special event-furnishings or style/motif pages, we need antiquities. Perhaps they drop from the goodie bags, or from some event-related activity, or perhaps we can even buy leads from the Impresario the way we buy leads from the merchant.

Just - more leads please.

I would rather deal with event box rng than say grind 14 leads for style pages. Imagine getting bad man hollows level of rng for each one. Who has the time for that?

The problem I have with Event leads is that Events are time-limited and Leads expire. The whole system is already designed to push players who don't own Greymoor to buy it before they miss out on a lead they got, or to push players who have it to grind for leads quickly before they go away. At least with regular leads, we can just regrind for it if we miss out without having to wait a year for the event to come around.

Now, yes, ZOS could make the event leads stick around permanently. But then that negates their lore justification for other leads having an expiration timer, and makes it clear what a poor QOL choice the timer was for players.

What lore justification? Because it feels like they wanted to make sure you will not have the leads you found before getting greymoor.

Leads that you can only get during event...

    That is... bad idea.

Leads already have like a 1 month live time. If you do not excavate it, the lead is gone. So adding a limited window on top if that, to get leads is bad, not to mention that in order to be able to find them, you have to buy Greymoor.

I can not imagine this idea meeting with players enthusiasm in some base game event, as rewards will be locked behind additional pay wall and extra grind time.

We need more leads in general but NOT event specific ones!

The idea is that leads are rumors about the item's location. Like "I got a tip from some seedy tavern barkeep that there's a treasure buried out there in them woods!"

But other people might hear the rumors too, and go dig up the antiquity if you dawdle, hence the time limit and the expiration of leads. You'll have to get another lead and a different dig site if yours expires/gets picked over by another adventuring crew. It's supposed to reflect the "gotta act quick" nature of treasure hunting from rumors.

Now, gameplay-wise, it is exactly as we said. ZOS wants players to buy Greymoor, and the FOMO with leads is one way they do that. For those who have Greymoor, it works to make players regrind if they lose a lead they wanted.
