UESP is always a good place for very comprehensive articles. It might not have every single thing but it's got a lot.

so I will quote what I read there: "Long ago, the Lizard Folk built and lived in grandiose pyramid structures they referred to as xanmeers and had wayshrines dedicated to the stars."

Does it mean the argonians revered the stars and celestials long ago? Or were they always loyal only to Sithis and Hist? Some argonian loremaster is needed here.

If you are interested in the Xanmeers, the Murkmire DLC has a fair bit of lore regarding them, as well as the place of the Hist Trees and Sithis in Argonian Culture.
