Just out of a random thought I've had while now for pretty much any mmorpg out there....

Isn't it weird we see bots in any Mmorpg within 1-2 days of the games "laiunch"? I'm not one to argue or anything, or conspire against certain people, but has it ever once occurred to anyone that maybe "Bots" are being run by the companies themselves?

The more I think about it, the more, and more impossible it seems for regular "hackers", or players to achieve creating bots... Would a player not technically NEED access to the systems codes to make the characters port from one harvest node, to another? Would companies be more aggressive against gold spammers/bots if they did not "control" them?

Sure, they say they're frustrated, but as we see in pretty much every Mmorpg out there, nothing is really "Done" about bots, they continue to exist, but for what reason? Could it be that these companies are trying to make an extra buck?

If we think about it, those who buy gold are banned right? But if they want to play again, they're also forced into buying another copy of a game right? So, seeing how bots are never eliminated, and they continue to exist as Dev's "Say" they're frustrated about these things, isn't it quite possible that someone with knowledge of the game, or someone with the "Code" to the game could personally make these bots in order to make more money?

Just a thought anyways, been in my head for a while, it doesn't make much sense to me considering we're talking about the game devs who could literally walk into the game, blow a bot to a million pieces, blood and all, and just have the game full of these "Spammers/Node gatherers".

just a thought I suppose.

They had the beta to work on it. Don't discount the idea that some of the bot makers were in the beta for a long long time.

Wouldnt make sense for them to do this the people who play the games get so annoyed by them that they leave and dont come back, they ruin the game from everyone. It would be like a shop owner paying people to come in and annoy their customers to the point that some of them just get fed up and leave....doesnt seem like the best money making scheme

Lol. No company with any shred of self worth and integrity would do that. Really, I would expect that "tactic" with an indie, not a large studio like ZOS. I get why you would think it, but you forget that some of the bots might have been from beta. Plus never underestimate the intelligence of a hacker; if they care to, they will break into something in under 24 hours.
Still an amusing thought to entertain though.

I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

Reported specifically how teleporting is done to ZOS like a week ago. I'm certain others have reported it as well.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling those vital reports are buried under a mountain of tickets.

yes they tested the game during beta, also note that Edo bots are junk, not able to move back into position for one
Start of game is the best time, plenty of players desperate for gold and too many bugs to focus much on bots

No. Not as if your though doesn't start getting quite absurd two sentences before, but the quoted part is just not correct.

[EDIT] Good humor there anyways!

    ^ This.

As well adapting existing hack tools to work with new MMO's is fairly straightforward and once created...are widely proliferated.

And again the bots are very primitive, I guess they are mostly macros.

Somebody managed to draw the boss away from the bots and they followed but did not return to target.

The bots in wow is far more sophisticated, the first round of anti bot filters will kill of current generation of eso bots and force better ones.

The "buy another copy" argument is flawed, as botters typically use stolen cards to buy more keys, which seeing as the card is stolen the charges get disputed and it costs the MMO company money. Blizzard posts about this all the time when people use that argument.

Please try not to think I'm hostile, I'm not trying to be. I just have a hard time wording things with tact >_<.

I'm sure they have no clue how it works, because they're only professional programmers.

Bots do not go away until the developers figure out how to break them. Otherwise, it's a pointless ban: the botter just comes right back with the same program.

Edit: And I'm not even going to bother with the OP, because that is the most ridiculous thing I've read recently. And I've read the transcript of an interview with Jenny McCarthy.
