Furniture recipes with Legerdemain Skills (i.e. stealing)

deathmethanol
I see and know from experience that a lot of furniture recipes are obtainable only from stealing. I was never going after a particular one. Now, things has changed. And questions came.
Does it matter where or who I steal from? Let's say I am after a Redguard piece of furniture - do I need to steal from Readguarians? Also, is there a higher chance of getting a recipe from an NPC or a cabinet/chest/other type of box?

I am aware that probably there is no concrete information on the subject, but what is your experience and what do you think?

It depends with some of the recipes. Some only come from specific npc loot pools. If you were going after the throne recipes, you would have to pickpocket nobles of the respective race. If you were after the House motifs (hlaalu, redoran, telvanni) from vvardenfell, you would have to pickpocket people of that house. It's honestly probably easier to look up whatever item you're after, and see where it can be stolen from.
