Why is ZOS protecting scammers?

First they create a system, that doesn't allow people to safely trade gold for crowns. They make the transactions trust based. And for some reason refuse to implement a safe system for players to do such transactions. And since such transactions are possible at all, it's obvious that it's not because they want to prevent them from happening.
Then when someone gets scammed (which is bound to happen sooner or later), they do nothing about it. It's been over half a year since I got scammed for 450k gold, and they haven't refunded me the gold, and I suppose that they haven't punished the scammer either.
Not to mention I had to write a forum post for them to even notice my ticket....
And they also don't allow ME to take action against the scammer, due to forum rules against "naming and shaming". He may be the biggest scumbag of them all, he may (or may not) be constantly scamming people. But you are not allowed to warn other players about this scammer!
It's almost as if they WANT people to be scammed.
I promised ZOS that I will not renew my ESO Plus until my issue has been resolved, and since it has been over half a year since then, I assume that they will just let it be.

Usually they reply very well towards Scammers, at least in my experience, but you only get refunded ONCE. So if you got scammed some time before, you will clearly get no compensation.
Generally trades like this carry their risk, so they can't prevent it from happening. It was your choice, so you carry the consequence.
If you want to warn people, do it ingame on Zone or Guild Chats. That's probably more effective than doing it on here, where people most likely don't even share the same platform as you.5 -

They created a system that allows gifting crown items, not trading them. ZOS never endorsed crown trading, they even inform people that they don't support this kind of trading and if you get scammed then well, it's on you.
The only thing you can blame ZOS for is leaving it in the grey area - quietly allowing it, yet not endorsing it and not giving you any support when you face any issues. But this attitude is not specific for crown trading. You can make the same argument about addons (especially TTC/MM which can heavily impact game economy), third party companion apps or websites etc.
Just a side note - don't trust random people from zone chat, it's literally asking to get scammed, especially during free trial events. Use moderated channels instead (for example Crown Black Market discord server).Edited by perfiction on April 6, 2021 10:34AM6 -

✭✭✭I know how you feel,I lost 1,5 million gold in August last year.
It was my first time being scammed and the scammer was cp 400+.I bought many crown gifts from different people during that time and all went good till that moment.I contacted Zos the same day,provided screenshots from the chat and me trading the gold and on top of that the person laughed at my face in chat and said he scammed me,also I made shots of it and sended it to Zos.
I had a ticket open about it for 2 months,the only thing I got told was they are investigating it and they said I would get my gold back in mail once they finish investigating.
Guess what? Never got any mail from Zos.The gold isn't a big deal for me but what got me was the little they care when you want help from them.
Back in 2019 when the costumer support still sold you stuff what wasnt in the store at the moment,I purchased a lot of houses from them and they always responded to my tickets withing less than 24 hours and they where ever so helpful and quick in taking my crowns.
I do not blame a company to make money,I am one of those people who are gladly supporting the game by pre ordering stuff,even buying dlcs collector editions but for once I needed help they ignored me.

And there are people willing to part with their real money to get some gold ingame. ZOS is getting money, the seller is getting gold, the buyer is getting the thing they want. Everyone will be happy.They should just ban everyone who takes gold for gifting crowns. That would fix it really quickly.

I don't care. It's a gifting system. You're supposed to gift stuff without expecting something in return.
And it's not like people don't use the crowns they get from ESO+ most of the time anyway.
And if they ever institute an exchange like GW2 have, they better leave the gifting in as well.

I don't know what's the exchange system in GW2 like, but I see no reason why would players not be able to keep gifting stuff. At the very least they would be able to trade stuff from the crown store, while not asking for anything in returnAnd if they ever institute an exchange like GW2 have, they better leave the gifting in as well.
Yeah, I suppose that having a trust based system, with no safe way to trade crowns, that endorses scammers is much healthier for the game.But honestly, I'd rather they don't. I don't think it's good for the health of the game.
Like, can you imagine what would happen if they actually fixed the problem?! Scammers will no longer have a way to scam people
ZOS can not afford that! Scammers are a priceless part of the player experience, and the game will not be the same without them!

Evrything give them money they dont ban. As long they ern money they dont care, of course they know people would sell crown for gold. Lol
eso should start sell gold problem solved. Like red dead online or gta 5 do. Guess people sell crown for they need gold if not why sell ?
