In the Blackwood preview back in January we were promised that 2021 would be the "year of performance" with a lot of developer emphasis being put on performance in Cyrodiil, upgrading the servers, the new CP system being designed to improve server performance etc.
Please could we have an update on how it's going, like the regular detailed performance updates we used to get about a year ago? Like, have the new servers arrived already / when will they roll out? How much of a difference to server performance have you noticed from the CP2.0 introduction, has it met your developer goals etc?
Additionally, there was one aspect of performance that wasn't mentioned in the preview and that's server uptime. I'm not just asking this in light of today's unfortunate events on PS4, or the difficulties encountered the other week, but quite regularly there seem to be maintenances on all platforms that get extended beyond what they are supposed to for one reason or another. Also, even the regular 4 hour maintenance is 4 hours during which we can't play the game. 4 hours during which you can't get crown store sales. And in any server application, uptime is one of the most important performance metrics, and server downtime is surely the one thing that is hated above all other issues with the game, by players on all platforms. Even more than lag in Cyrodiil or disconnects, if the servers are down we can't play at a time of our choosing and we hate that bigly.
So, does the performance roadmap include any plans to improve the reliability of the maintenance and patching process, or to improve the server and backend configuration to reduce or remove the necessity to take the servers offline to conduct maintenance altogether?
