'True Pvpers? Are they anything like 'True Scotsmen'?

I think the title of emperor is cool but he should just be a normal player that gives buffs to the people he is around rather than being a 1 man army.

One man should be able to turn the tide of battle, through tactics and leadership
    not overpowered skills
the emperor is the one thing that i am truly disliking about pvp.

No, they shouldn't. It's game breaking for them to be that strong since the mechanic to dethrone them can be completely removed by that one person.

That's not even mentioning that destroying the game for a group of 20+ people to give something "cool" to 1 person in a multiplayer PvP game is just plain dumb. It's a bad mechanic, it's not fun, and any reward for victories gained by the faction should be enjoyed by the faction and not a single person who gets cheat mode enabled.

I killed an Emperor 1 on 1 two days ago. There are certain things that are broken when someone is emperor, but not because emperor is broken itself. Things like bat swarm ult spam and DK banner spam make the emperor using them essentially immortal. It's about a need for those skills being nerfed and not Emperor being nerfed as a mechanic. That player is also #1 on his factions leaderboard, which, fallacies aside, means that he is the best PvP player on that server, in theory. Not only that, but he also earned the hell out of that title (once again, in theory). Taking into account that he is probably vr10 and the majority of those 20 he killed were probably not even vr1, then yeah, I really don't doubt that he stomped you.

If you let a server crown an emperor, they should get those buffs, and, it really is only one guy. If 20 people aren't layering cc's, silences, and damage, then he is free to do as he pleases.

Are you going to attack the server that has the emperor because, every minute he is crowned, your faction is at a disadvantage, or are you going to go attack the weaker faction while the faction with the emperorship runs amok?

This mechanic forces you to attack the strongest faction. Period. If you can't see that it is a really cool mechanic that rewards the top player and inherently creates balance in a 3-faction PvP system, then there is no helping you.

it forces people to make sure they choose the winning faction, it does not promote pvp, it promotes domination.

@KingZook, I fixed it for you.

@thread, I wish ZOS would have come up with awesome group buffs for the emperor, but then wait...so the more allies around the harder he is to kill...we'll hang on *starts up thread to complain about how OP any group is when the emperor is around.

Whiners are gonna whine, at least this way there is only 1 powerful enemy to squash, and it can be done. I can only imagine how much my guild would wreck if we rolled around with an emperor with group buffs, and we're not even "the best".

It promotes focusing the winning faction. Without proper incentive to attack the strongest faction, you end up with the strongest 2 factions picking on the weakest faction and the 2 weakest factions fighting each other for 2nd. If you don't believe that, just look at what happened in Guild Wars 2 when the 1st place server was seen as "too strong to fight" and the 2nd and 3rd place servers fought each other for second just so they wouldn't be last.

Without buffing the best faction through things like the emperorship, scrolls, and enemy keep bonuses, there is no incentive to gang up on them because all keeps would be of equal value so you'd have "easier" points attacking the weakest server at the time. It promotes avoding fights with the dominant faction in order to screw over the weaker faction even harder.

Trust me, this sort of thing needs to be in the game.
