Best monster sets or mythic items for tanks in 2021?

Just wondering what do you guys use?

I'm a warden tank argonian. My tank only run 4 man content, not trials but i run vet dlc hardmodes, and most monster sets and mythics for tanks are kinda... Meh

I tried to use bloodlord, torc or engine guard and i was oversustaining, tried lord warden for the resistances and is not like a huge difference for me and my group the same with lady thorn.

Since the life steal changes running earthgore is pretty much pointless too.

What are you guys using? Is there a monster set that rly makes difference for you guys?

I like Tremorscale where there's some stamina DPS. Almost guaranteed constant uptime (just taunt a drop early), deals damage of its own, and gives an untyped physical resistance reduction.

    DK argonian tank.

What I wear for 4 man dungeons.

Encratis monster set with magical group.
Tremor scale monster set for stam groups.
    Yolnahkriin body.
My second set depends on if we have a healer or not. Or if it is a dlc dungeon. So many different choices dependent on what your group needs or is running.

For trials it could be an even bigger variety of sets to run depending on the trial, what the off tank is running, what the healers are wearing. Too many factors to name a must have set. Although yolnahkriin is almost always a given.

As far as mythic items? I really don’t know if any a tank would run.

    DK tank

Grothdaar for trash pulls and normal randoms, warden for boss fights

All my other tanks use swarm mother for trash pulls/warden for boss fights.

    Vet content/trials its situational.

Yolna + Crimson + Tremorscale on my Argonian warden tank has always worked for me on all levels of dungeons. Grundwulf can work, too, for some sustain if you don't have Stonekeeper.

Lady Thorn + Alkosh is an interesting combo as you can proc your own synergies, but that's for a pug group.

Though I do want to try that new set out of Black Drake, Drake's Rush. Think it could work well with Maarselok

I do not run with mythic items.

Mythic bloodlords embrace plus frost staff, kinda perminant block if you want it.

The Scourge is pretty decent that provides windows of Major Vitality. The Torc isn't too bad to maintain high Magicka pools since your stamina will often be below 50%; but you would need to front/back bar different sets. Trial tanks are more limited on sets unless they just used the 3pc set for Minor Aegis paired with a 5pc set, and used a Monster set and something else.

I primarily play a sorc tank but also play dk, necro and wardens in some cases.

As stated, Encratis for mag groups, tremorscale for stam. Engine guardian or Grundwulf if you need resources (Grundwulf pretty good on a sorc tank for steady reliable resources.

For sheer defense, Pirate Skeleton is pretty good. The healing debuff is negligible for 2/3 up time on major protection.

I dont find any of the others worth while.

You don't need bloodlord's embrace to permablock as mag you just need balance/spell sym.

Arena sets are another consideration. Asylum, (mag sustain from casting defensive posture) Masters (mitigation and healing) and maelstrom (both resources) all have their uses as well and don't necessarily take up a spot you could be using to buff your group (encratis/tremorscale)

The master sword and shield is crazy powerful now.

indeed it is, resistances plus healing is crazy good for harder content.

I was just thinking about masters s+b front with a PA ice staff back (with a regular assault skill only on back) so nice to hear the feedback on masters.

Yeah that is totally how I build. Master S&B with an off set that only needs its five piece on one bar. Ran Alkosh that way forever.

Asylum sword and board back barred with an ice staff front bar is also a setup i like if you need/want to front bar a five piece. Using magicka to block, you can cast your defensive posture/stance on the back bar to get the asylum proc and it will carry over to front bar, making it an excellent mag sustain tool for ice tanking. With that and balance/spell symm you will have a hard time running out of mag.

    Bäh...
It is so easy to overtaunt on that set.
It requires a lot of patience, so to say.
And the uptime of that buff is 5 of 15 secs.
Which is also inconsistent. So you can't plan your resistances with it.

    IMO too many downsides.

Monster sets: Lord Warden / Encratis (for magicka) / Tremorscale (for stamina)
    Body: Drake's Rush / Galenwe
Jewelry + back bar: Yoln / Powerful Assault (ice staff is very expensive)
    Front bar: Master S&B

Instead of a monster set its possible to use Bloodlords on the chest with one monster piece like Domihaus or Stonekeeper.

In 4-man content you dont have the issues with overtaunting so you can spam puncture for heals+resistances, in trail content with 2 tanks its a different story ofc.

    Of course, 🤦‍♂️
I am still paranoid to the bone for overtaunting.

    Concerning the Sets choices.
I always liked it to be easy in 4 man content, since you never know what you get. That is especially true now after U29 and armor/mitigation changes.
I prefer to run as healthtank now. Complete with Lord Warden, Ebon and Plague Doctor.
I survive Hard Modes with no problem, unless the other three make them. And have no sustain issues on my Nord Warden. I would call it Easy Mode, just for laughs.

I don't know if any Trial Sets are necessary in 4 Man Dungeons.

You can’t overtaunt by yourself. Over taunting only happens when two or more people are applying taunt on the same creature.

You as an individual can taunt every second for the entire fight and nothing bad happens.
