Quest marker differences.

New player. just started. Is there a page that explains the differences between the various quest markers?

Not that I am aware of.
Black ones are quests you can pick up, the white one belongs to an active quest you are currently tracking, the grey-ish ones are repeatable quests you can pick up and the fancy ones belong to a "main story".
Then there are different versions of these for "this quest leads you into or out of your current area", sometimes even stating if it is "above" or "below".

The game will switch out your active quest for another one willy nilly when you complete a stage. So, you may be running in the wrong direction chasing the wrong quest if you are doing a multistage quest.

Check your Journal after each stage to make sure the quest you want to focus on is active.

I set my game to only have the active on the compass, that can help.

Some of newer areas won't show you on the map where a quest objective is if you are in a city, even if you zoom out on the map. So, do a quick jump to a wayshrine outside the city, then look at your map to see where to go.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The main quest quest markers (for the starter NPC for each quest) have a special marker.

Side quests are a regular black arrow with a white border before you pick it up, and a white arrow when you are progressing the quest and it's focused.

Any blue quest markers are repeatable/daily quests.

Is that what you were looking for?

First, please use imgur or some other free hosting site so I'm not required to log in to google just to see your pics.

Second: the left pic is a marker to the main quest in a given zone. The right pic is "just another quest" - it might lead to something fun, or it might lead to nothing.
