Mark as important

If you use two different types of armor or want to save a piece of armor with a trait you don't know until later you naturally don't want to deconstruct that item, and it would be nice to "hide" it from the deconstruct tab. At the moment you can mark an item as junk or put it in the bank, but you will still be able to deconstruct it, so if you are a bit to fast you will destroy an important item. My proposed idea is to implement a "mark as important" and you will not be able to deconstruct those items, or research them or anything of that sort. If you wanted to deconstruct or research you would naturally chose to "lo longer mark as important"

tl;dr: "mark as important" so that it cant be used in crafting of any sorts.

Would be a very nice addition - along with a map lock (so you dont have to constantly scroll it out in PvP! )

It's certainly needed. I've lost count of the times I've accidentally deconstructed armor/weapons I wanted to save for researching just because you often rack up a huge lot of loot, and they get buried in a sea of things you WANT to deconstruct.

I would rather see "Mark as Junk" option to start working first ...
Any items you marked as junk stop beeing considered as junk as soon as you sell or destroy it.
So next time you pick it up you have browse your inventory again to find it.

Esoui.com has the addons to solve the problems described by @killedbyping‌ and @Jirki88‌
It is "Research Assistant" and "JunkYard". No more accidental deconstructs, and junk remains junk permanently!

I've done the accidental deconstruction too. Especially early on when I didn't realize that you could deconstruct armor even if it was in the bank. So yeah, something like this would be nice.

request a addon somewhere, my complete UI is addons, so that 'mursion crowd has a clean interface :)

(And a tend to think mine is still clean, but conveys basic infos now, or adds comfort options like searching AH's)

Umm… what? I would hate this. Just because I've previously marked an item as junk and sold it doesn't mean I want all future incarnations of that same item I pick up to be marked as junk automatically. That would drive me nuts.

Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

There's one UI add-on that lets you "mark" an item with, I dimly recall, a red asterisk kind of looking thing to the left of the name of the item. It doesn't prevent you from deconstructing or selling it, but it DOES mark it.

Another add-on was TRYING to do something similar but make it so that you would get a warning if you tried to Decon a research-able item but I think there were some issues with it NOT stopping the Decon.

Due to space restraints, my research-able items are all stored on an alt... and last I checked there is no AddOn that would tell me that I have a research-able item on an Alt. There are some AddOns that DO scan the inventory of alts, and I even have one (MobileBank, I think it was called) that lets me view my alts' inventory but that still doesn't do EXACTLY what I want, which is to be able to tell at a glance that I have not researched this trait for this item (something Research Assistant does well for things in MY inventory) AND that I do not already HAVE an item stored on my alt with that trait.

So when I loot a Precise Dagger, Research Assistant will tell me that I do not know that trait for that item and if I already HAVE a Precise Dagger of lower level it'll even tell me that... but it WON'T tell me (right now, AFAIK) that my ~alt~ has a Precise Dagger that I've been holding. So I still have to do some pen-and-paper tracking. But I think all the ingredients are there for someone to eventually develop something that WOULD let me know, "Oh, I don't know that trait for that item, but my alt has a lower level item with that trait that I can eventually research, so THIS item I can sell/Decon"...

I completely agree. We need a way to mark items so they can't be accidentally sold or broken down. This is becoming increasingly important to me as I level up and carry additional equipment in my bag that I swap out sets with.

I would also add that I would like to see functionality to Mark for Research.
