What happened to the bank?

I am just curious what we got in return for the degradation of the banking system....

- It takes 5-15 seconds to withdraw an item from a bank.
- it takes a about 5 seconds to deposit any item.
- each time an item is withdrawn or deposited the game stalls
- Accessing the guild bank freezes the game for 30 seconds minimum, or it just freezes completely

What aspect of the game was actually improved with the current catastrophe that is the inventory system.

I’m just relieved to know it’s not just me. I was trying to grind CP doing master writs last night and that lag cost me a solid 15 minutes of my 150% XP scroll trying to pull more out of the bank due to limited inventory space.

    Quite agitating.

Oh, they are blaming it on YOUR internet connection and advising people on Xbox to reset all their internet settings on their xbox and unplug the power source....and wait for the power brick to go from white to orange!

    I can't make this stuff up. https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/7177103/#Comment_7177103

Ebonheart Pact, Nord Templar/healer on NA Xbox server. My main toon WAS a tall and foxy redhead - now she has been gamma-irradiated and has green skin and black hair. 3 other characters I only use for writs. Can't be bothered to create multiple toons - EXCEPT now my WW is getting spooled up for Cyrodiil - Blood For The Pact! IRL cranky sometimes redhead chick at large in Las Vegas, NV

Now it takes 5 seconds to connect to an guild bank who is annoying, adding or removing stuff don't take time.
Population in Reapers march and Vvardenfell has been nerfed because potatoes could not handle the city population in crafting hubs, this make it harder to find groups.
This is much more an issue in Craglorn who is the hub for puging tirals.
Obviously people are farming or questing while queuing.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Lol “it’s our internet connection.” This is getting tediously gross.

Standard troubleshooting advice is not "blaming" the customer. What the employee suggested is always the first place to start in the process of elimination to track down causes of problems like this, so this person is frankly just doing their job. The issue with bank/inventory lag transcends this, but that sure wasn't known for sure back when this post was made, most likely.

So.... wait. Are all of you having these issues on console? Because yes, there is an issue with console which they have acknowledged - and they are working on a fix for an incremental patch.

On PC, on both mega servers, I am not seeing anything like this.

Process of elimination works like this. You have a system, internet, and an update. Assuming the system and internet have not changed (which they haven't), leaves only the update. That is like going to the dealership, having them install faulty equipment, and then when the car breaks down on the road they say that the issue was with the road and not the car.

As for the update. They DO NOT test on console. Over the last 7 years there have been fart too many instances to count where they released a patch that looked good; sorry scratch that, "playable" on the pc... only to have issues pop up on consoles. This is reoccurring issue. As a developer, they should test on all systems. If you assume that there are equal players on each platform, or even a 50:50 split across the console and pc, they are effective releasing untested updates for half the player base with nothing more than a prayer nothing goes wrong. If they tested on console then this wouldn't be a repeating issue.

Maybe this is only evident on xbox, but something as drastic as this should have been caught during testing.

The issue isnt that they aren't working on a fix, It is that they needed to work on the fix in the first place. A systematic cycle of releasing untested patches on console over the 6 years it has been out. At lest once a year, if not more, there are issues present on console that somehow were not caught during testing. This shouldn't happen. There is no reason to alienate 50% of the player base, by failing to test on all systems. Not only that, but console has to wait longer for fixes. When the guild roster system was broken on console (every time a player logged on or off, the roster would reset the index to the very top), it took 9 months to fix the issue. The issue was not present on the pc, support was useless in providing a solution, and every guild in the game suffered for 9 months. Had there been a pts on the console, this issue would have been caught. I am not saying it would have been fixed, but at least they would have been aware of it before the patch went live.

Also this doesn't even include the other issues:

    - Opening mail to take the attachment, only to be shown a error message. Then having the item removed from the mail, but not show up in your inventory, despite the fact that the total inventory items increases by the appropriate amount. Even if you remove all items from your inventory, you are still left with invisible items taking up space.
    - COD mail is returned to sender automatically, with no payment or attachments.
    - Guild traders take forever to load a search. Sometimes getting stuck in an endless loading cycle. Why is there no timeout on the search?
    - Selecting a different trader, being displayed the correct new items, but the game still thinks you are at the previous trader. So when you attempt to buy an item it says it doesn't exist. You have to back out and research the trader.
    - Getting a unexpected error message when trying to log in, and failing to even get to your character select screen.
    - Character loads take almost twice as long now.
    - rosters do not show any information anymore

These are just a sample of the new "features" that have popped up in the last two updates. There is nothing that I have seen thus far in 2020, or 2021 that I would actually consider a performance enhancement.

Then there is the design choice to instance the door to the enchanting station and the clothing station in solitude ??? Why is there a 30 second load to get out of the enchanting station or clothing station. Its just a door. Why can you go an capital city with more traffic and go in and out of every building in the city with no load screen, but in solitude you are met with a load screen for every ... single.... building?

Performance is not judged by improvements alone. Having something functional break is far worse than seeing something broken not improve.

    They added a search bar.

This is comical to me because in 7 years I have never been handicapped by the lack of a search bar in the limited 210 slots in the inventory. Never had the need to search for something in my inventory. On the other hand console had to wait 6 years to be able to search the guild traders for the potential 15,000 listings, even though add ons on the pc were capable of doing this from the beginning.

PlayStation is having the same issues, it's not just a Xbox problem. Something happened with U29 because that is when this craziness started. Not an internet issue but a software issue on ZOS part. Also crashing a lot more on my side then before U29.

Really hope ZOS doesn't take months to fix this. I know if they don't fix in the next month I will be putting in a complaint to Sony to just look at all the error reports i have been sending in daily that only happens playing ESO and nothing else on the new PS5.

Stay safe and enjoy the journey 😊

PS. ZOS stop the micromanagement of the green tree 🥺
