Short answer: No. This is, of course, my subjective opinion on the matter, and I don't buy them outright in any game I play where they are available, even if that game gives out store currency as part of a sub. I prefer to know what I'm getting when I buy something.

I always wondered if the 3 radiant apexes have the same drop chance or if there is a hierarchy. With one being even rarer than the others. Someone said something like this before but I am not sure if this is a fact.

If I had my way, I would remove crown crates from the store. I would also remove the motifs, and most of the mounts. I would much prefer those kind of things were rewards in game. I'd be happy with the crown store having service tokens and costumes and cosmetic dyes and hair styles and stuff like that, the potions and XP scrolls and all. But I personally really wish that the epic looking mounts were additional rewards in the game. Maybe drops from trial and dungeon bosses, or rare world bosses, or special events. And Motifs being collected from delves and such in game.

At the same time though, I love this game. I will play WoW when new expansions come out for a little bit, then cancel my sub, but ESO has had an active sub from me from the start. And the crown store supports this game I love. So long as ZOS continues to add new content to the game, and releases excellent chapters and all the great new features that comes with them, then I am ok with the crown store that supports them financially to do that.

So long as the stuff bought in the crown store is all cosmetic or quality of life. If they ever start adding in gear sets, or items like kuta runes and other legendary crafting items, I will leave the game and never look back.

For the consumer they provide poor reward to cost, but as a revenue mechanism they work almost too well...

i accidentally hit f3 and this kajit popped on a crate and tried to sucker me into buying one. i almost got fooled because I clicked on "purchase crate", clicked on a crate, then clicked "preview crate" and for a moment I thought I would get all the items in the list. Only after I scrolled back up the list did I notice it said "possible"....then I thought "surely Zenimax wouldn't make good stuff in a purchased crate be unlikely to fall"...I'm pretty disgusted now. I thought buying a crate (spending real money in game) is a sure way of getting a nice item. Oh boy I see how wrong I was.

I got a mount out of a free crown crate. It was worth it I guess.

i only revived the thread because after hitting f3 and seeing the word "possible" under the crate I went and Googled the phrase "are eso crates worth it" (something similar) and saw this thread come up in the results and watched the video.

This one loathes crown crates and Pacooti strongly.

I spend too much on crates but I blame no one but myself!
My friends spend more on smokes, alcohol and gas though... hehe

If we wonder why there's nothing to unlock in-game there you go - Crown Crates and Crown Store.
The only mount that wasn't hidden behind a paywall is the starter horse and the Indrik festival mounts, that's now discontinued..

I do not like gambling, but it is the only way to get crown gems. Sometimes there are things I like. Like Destrier from current crates. For me, it is worth it to waste some money to get this Destrier with crown gems if it did not drop.

No but I still spent.... way to much on the aylied ones......
