In my point of view having to wait for certain houses to come back to crown store for months/years can be a nightmare.
I have a friend who waited for the Psijic Villa to come back to crown store since he started to get into housing and the few weeks it was available last month he had a very expensive car repair and wasn't able to get it.When will it be back? No one knows.

I am waiting for the Aldmeri Grotto to return to store and it has been for a long time now too,I think since I started playing the game it hasn't been on crown store not even once.
Also know a lot of people waiting for Tel Galen.
As more and more houses get added over the time, specially the big manors/time limited ones it takes even longer for older houses to return.

Houses being as expensive as they are and each of them being unique I think a lot of people would welcome it to be able to choose when we want to purchase them.
People get ideas for creations from one moment to another and having all houses in crown store all the time would be ideal :)

When Forgemaster Falls was on store,I didn't buy it because I had no idea what to do with that house.Just a few days ago a szenario came to my mind and I would need that house for it to create what I have in mind.I would have bought the house in an eyeblink if it would be on the store.

I really hope Zos will consider doing this in the future, specially as costumer support does not sell you older stuff anymore.

^This happens to my wife and I a lot. You see a house, later you think of a great idea for it, only to find that it's not for sale anymore. I know ESO just got bought by Microsoft, so they're doing well. :p But money is money...

Fear of missing out is a big part of how they convince people to pay that much for a digital item.

ZOS has missed out on so many crown house sales to me because they do limited time only. I impulse buy my entertainment. There have been quite a few houses over the years that i would have bought when i visited but i couldn't because they weren't available. When they became available i didn't buy them because i lost my inspiration and my interest in them. In some cases i have spent the money i would of used on those houses in or on other games which actually caused me to play this one less. In one case, i took a 4 month break from ESO as i bought a couple of other games and played them for a while. For 3 month of that i cancelled my sub because i wasn't playing.

Their marketing strategy is dated and doesn't really work in the age of insta-gratification. You can buy pretty much anything and have it at your house in a week or so. Waiting longer than it takes to build a real house to own a fake house just doesn't cut it in the modern world. People lose interest and move on to other things. I bet a good portion of the people who would have bought these houses moved on to other games before the houses became available again. Those sales they will never be able to recover from.

It is just a bad marketing strategy all around.

I agree with you but I still belive they would make more money over the time if all houses would be on the store always.
I know people who can't afford to buy houses with real money but now as the gifting system is implemented to houses they would buy them with gold from crown sellers,so at the end they would buy them in a way or another.
And the housing community is growing :) It is just a nice relaxing activity.

Exactly this.By the time they will be on store again people lose inspiration.Same as I had that idea for the forgemasters home and 2 days ago I would have bought it but I doubt that by the time it will be available again I will get it.
I am not the type of person who buys something to buy it and have it sitting in my collection forever unfurnished.

Oh, didn't know gifting works for houses too now. I'd probably buy one through gifting myself if I wasn't afraid of scammers.

For ''exclusivity'' there are already skins and other cosmetics :) but houses are a sure source of how people will spend more money for furniture because when decorating big homes a lot of people need some stuff from the furniture crown store.
Also houses have an utility for guilds as guild halls and big homes are good for placing all set crafting stations for example ^^

I disagree and if your friend was hard up for real cash he could've grinded gold hard and bought the villa off a crown seller for 1.2 mil

1.2 million gold? That is not anywhere enough what he would have needed to get the house with gold.
On PC-EU it would have costed him around 7 million gold or more, and sadly he didn't had that amount of gold either.

oof the average gold to crown ratio on xbox is 100:1 and iirc the villa was 12k crowns

The Villa was 14k crowns and on PC EU it is min. 500/1 and on discord servers where you actually have more security and where are people with that amount of crowns to sell you can easly pay 750-800/1.
If it would have been only 1.2 million gold I would have helped him out :D

But that was not my only point, like he did, many do each time a home comes to store and people either lack of money, time or inspiration to buy them in those few days they are in the store and then have to wait for months or in most cases years till they come back.

I hear what you're saying because I've been playing on/off since release and just finally got hunters glade the last time it was made available...kinda sucks waiting so long but on the other hand it makes it that much sweeter and makes me feel like a special snowflake that it can't be bought now. I've heard that they've sold out of season homes in the past if you submit a ticket asking to buy so he could try that but I wouldn't hold my breath. I hate to say but I got the villa free back during the event and use the home as storage lol

I agree that ZOS is short - sighted when they think the best strategy is to keep these houses out of the crown store for so long. They may have a ton of sales in the few days it's in there, but they miss out on sales all through the year. I don't like to buy crowns. If I can help it I will buy the house through a crown seller. I just bought Daggerfall Overlook for 1.2 million gold (I am on Xbox - 100:1). Much better than paying 3.7 million directly in gold. But it's just a run of the mill house, not a "special" one that they think they have to keep from us 99% if the time. ZOS feels like this is the right strategy though, and no amount of complaining from us will change their ridiculous policies. <sigh>

I just don't understand the logic behind some houses being always in crown store and the rest not.Like for example The Orbservatory Prior,it's a big house with 700 slots, not as popular as others but still it's there. What makes that one different to the rest of the 700 slot homes?

I really hope they will change in the future and put them all on the crown store.

They stopped doing that when MS bought them out.

I'm sitting on crowns waiting for forgemaster falls. My buddy is waiting for some nature themed house.

I understand the need to create a false sense of urgency to get more people to buy at a higher price. But that's predatory business and I'm hoping when Microsoft money starts changing the game they'll toss that garbage out.

Also hopefully they ditch loot box gambling.

If limited time items like houses was bad marketing strategy they wouldn't do it, plenty of games do this especially B2P/F2P. Its scummy af yes but there is a reason they do it.
