Potent Nirncrux

After spending a significant amount of time harvesting in Craglorn for Potent Nirncrux,harvesting wood,ores,rune stones,silk,flowers and sometimes killing mobs in between I did find Potent only from ores,silk and wood.
A few days ago a guild member commented that for him/her it did drop from mobs and from alchemy plants.This did never happen to me so I am wondering if it's true?
Did it happen to anyone else?

Anything that drops leather can drop Nirncrux.

Alchemy plants aren't supposed to. Some people have reported it dropping from Alchemy nodes. I think it's most likely a glitch, either a bug in the node, a visual bug of some kind in the loot window, or people harvesting a lot quickly and getting confused.

As I understand Nirncrux can drop from most harvest nodes. Originally it dropped only from ore but it was changed to others to. Never heard it dropped from mobs but if so its the one dropping leather.

Now one way to make potent Nirncrux if you have plenty of transmute crystals is to create an iron dagger, transmute it to nirnhomed, then deconstruct.

Not deconstruct friend, create, and transmute. 2 different things.

Alright makes sense,the person said it dropped from Welwas.As for the alchemy plants I was wondering myself as I usually pick up 80% of the plants what come across my way and never found any.

The person said it drops from Welwas,I usually avoid killing them but often I have to and never dropped for me either.
Maybe there is even less of a chance then getting it from harvesting.

Not deconstruct friend, create, and transmute. 2 different things.

Yes, you can not use recreate you have to transmute and you not always get an style stone from deconstruct.

I've farmed Crag many hours and have never seen it drop from alchemy nodes. Mobs that drop leather can drop them though. Including the 1hp boars that are all over the place

I once found one in a flower, but thats years ago. If its not a cornflower, i pass them anyway.
Also i got one from the jakals, but aswell only one time.

in my humble experience Nirncruxes drop from equipment crafting nodes (wood, cloth, ore, jc nodes). Animals dropping leather on kills may drop stones too (got several from Welwas). No drops from consumer crafting nodes (like Alchemy plants and solvents, no drops from Runestones (cannot remember if Psijic portals do drop?), or Provisioning crates).
i estimate the drop rates are like 1:500 for armor (Fortified) Nirncrux and 1:2000 for weapon (Potent).
UESP says it may drop from Heavy Sacks, still i can neither confirm, nor deny that as i got only about 100..120 stones so far.

Cloth, wood and ore nodes. Mobs which drop leather. I get few fortified and and 0-1 potent nirncrux when do my occsional short casual harvest run. Last time I did a jewelry survey in Craglorn I got both fortified and potent nirncrux from same survey node with the new CP Plentiul Harvest slotted.

Edit: I do collect all types of nodes and do not recall ever getting any nirncrux from plants, shrooms, water or rune nodes and psijic portals - but psijics may be too small sample. I'd suspect a misidentified cloth node if someone claims they got one from alchemy plant.

I really have to kill more welwas in Craglorn and see if I ever get any potent from them.
I usually harvest in Crag because I know my routes the best and I am more familiar with the zone than any other in Tamriel.

I have found potent from killing things, especially welwas.

Doesn't drop from Nightshade, Nirncrux plant, water nodes or rune nodes. It does drop from all other harvest nodes including mobs once in a while.

I'm not a regular gatherer, but have been around for almost 6 years and am pretty sure Potent Nirn has dropped for me from plants, resource nodes and animals over that time. It's just really rare, though lately I've noticed it seems to be more plentiful from picking up crafting surveys. (This may have always been so, I just rarely do those surveys and am only doing writs now that materials have become so expensive).

I've had it drop from Daggerback piggies, Alligators, and from Welwas. Rare, but it can and does happen.
