Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – April 8, 9:00AM EDT (13:00 UTC) - 6:00PM EDT (22:00 UTC)
We are currently investigating connection issues some players are having on the European megaservers. We will update as new information becomes available.

Charging for appearance change (not race) feels... kind of awful?

Nearly everything in the crown store is stupidly expensive and they make you pay for the dumbest most mundane things like you said, hair color change. At the end of the day ZOS only cares about money.

But the thing is, they're losing money by charging these prices.

I would agree if the game didn't have so many sliders.

When making my Necro Tank I wanted him to be a tall beefy dude. But didn't realize I made his thighs a bit too... thicc. It wasn't until I put on certain types of armor that this became very apparent. It was a very, "Do these pants make my butt look big" moment for me. lmao.

Finding out to tweak just that aspect of him would cost me crowns felt just terrible.

I just wish the character creation screen was more accurate. I've had the thick thighs problem countless times, my nord turned out to be a chonk.

That feels like a non-issue to me and not a particularly good excuse to charge more for a haircut in real life for changing your character's appearance.

They can offset changing appearance for a gold cost. Something like 5,000 Gold would be more than fine for hair color changes and 5,000 for other appearance changes.

I would really like a hair color pack. I hope they decide to add one. The adornments change color based on your current hair color, right? I haven’t found a way to change them.

This without a doubt is my biggest pet peeve of the cosmetic system. Why on earth should all my dark haired characters categorically never be able to use silver colored adornments, and my light haired colored chars not have golden colored ones?? It has never made sense to me. Clearly a lazy implementation of skinning system that they never bothered to address.

I have gotten some of the other achievement adornments that don't succumb to this issue, so I don't see why they cannot fix it.

    More first world problems... :D

I can totally agree witbh it
Changing appearence should cost only gold, but a 1000 crown for an appearence ajust?
    It's really ridiculous...
I think 250 is aready beyond acceptable...

Yeah, fixing it so hair color doesn't impact adornments would be nice. Just give them their own color slider. :(

They charge because it’s a sure fire money earner.

Also, this one has noticed that once you switch out from the character creation page, and get into the actual game, certain aspects and appearances are altered slightly (especially the eye angle and shape). Very annoying.

Yes we need a barbershop feature of some kind. Let us use our gold. Not to mention it's a good amount of crowns.

I wouldn't honestly mind the crown cost if there was a better system for trading crown store items for gold and the price was lower. I find people selling crowns 200:1 frequently so buying an appearance change token as is would cost 200,000 gold. Which is ludicrous.

100 Crowns and a system that actually functioned like a trade window instead of the current trust trade system we have to rely on for exchanging crown store items would forgo all my complaints as I'd be more than willing to pay 20,000 gold for an appearance change.

As someone who likes to change my characters looks often I agree that there should be more access to customize our characters.

Surprised they don't charge 400 gems for appearance changes.

I would have absolutely no problem paying for that as I have the others, including the body markings that I rarely use!

Especially if they include colors that you normally can't access.

Razum-Dar dying his hair red while other Khajiit can't.

    Unfair.

Having to buy appearance changes also makes creating a character more impactful, instead of just clicking create and figuring it all out later.

If someone copies your look, who cares? That is such a trivial non-issue that it shouldn't factor into a decision. If there is a need for hurdles to appearances, that's a weak justification and argument for it. [snip]

Considering how atrocious the lighting in character creator is, charging real money for changing skin and hair tones is nothing short of trolling. My main was supposed to be a blond, but once out of the Wailing Prison it turned out she's actually grey-haired. And so I've been playing with a prematurely aged character for 6 years now... Then there's the Orc character that I really wanted to have green skin, but my choices were grey, grey, grey, and slightly darker grey...

The game only has so many aestheic combinations for appearance. No matter how much effort you put into your character they will likely look similar to another's due to the limited options we have. Especially if you and another individual have similar tastes.

Know how many Drow inspired Dark Elf males I've encountered that are wearing bright colors or are direct references to Drizzt?

More than I can keep count of.
