Why does nobody use Overload ultimate on sorcerers?

Title. I swear in 2017/2018 I saw people using it often, and now I see it once in eternity.
Why? It has good damage, can regenerate mana with a morph, you can still use your stave abilities.

✭✭I can't speak to why other people don't use it, but for me: I just don't use it because it feels clunky and gross.
The light attack speed is too slow to feel good, imo. Needs to be adjusted down a bit in damage, and increased ~50% in firing speed. And the projectile itself feels more like an electric water ballon than a bolt of lightning; the projectile needs a speed increase as well. Again, this is all just judging by the feeling/fun factor... for my personal preferences. Balancing/damage aside, the skill just doesn't feel "Ultimate" enough to be worth using to me.
And the heavy is comparatively weak when you consider the small area vs other ults PLUS the fact that you have to channel it (precluding you using other skills simultaneously) PLUS the fact that your reduced mobility while channeling it means pretty much anyone can causally avoid its effect entirely. Using the heavy just makes you a big easy "HEY GUYS, KILL ME FIRST!!" target in most cases.
The only good thing about this ultimate is that it allows you a third bar of skills to slot, which everyone sorely needs, tbh. Only... wait, no it doesn't because instead of finding a way to give everyone a third bar somehow ZOS decided it'd be better to not let anyone have more bar space. Because balance, or whatevs. >:(4 -

✭✭✭Not only can the light attack be dodged, but it can MISS lol. People move fast in PvP, and in melee range sometimes your overloads will just shoot to nowhere, but still cost ult. I use overload for pressure on my stamsorc ATM, but it's definitely inconsistent to landPC-NA

✭If you look on overload on paper it may seem good but its not. Damage increase Isn't big enought to justify slotting overload instead of another, much stronger ultimate
For example dawnbreaker. High burst damage, also with dot and stun on top. Its so strong i am even using it on my magsorc1 -

✭Back in the old days of loading up to 1000 Ultimate rather than the max 500, there was much more prevalence of Overload in solo PvE (vMA) because you could almost obliterate most of the bosses "quickly" and easily using overload light attacks. That and removal of the 3rd bar was brutal for the skill overall.

- Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

✭I used overload on my sorc before I converted my sorc to a petsorc for maelstrom. The reason I don't use it? It's just not as good as a fire-and-forget ultimate like Elemental Rage or the Atronarch. However, even when I used it, I toyed with it to see if I could make a build around the premise that I would basically dump all my magika bar, and then use OL to gain back my magika while Dots/AoEs were doing their thing, but it just wasn't all that effective in trying to serve as a substitute for having decent sustain, so I scrapped the build.0 -

It will be nice when players with as much post time on the forums as yourself, know better then to blame others for ZOS shortcomings and inability to fix long standing issues.
It is not on the player to figure out what is broken, then implement some kind of imaginary honor system, and not use it.1
