Currently everybody seems to be upset about the new CP system and the grind, I wonder why noone is talking about the other implications of the update, e.g. armor types! :)

The meta change from 5-1-1 to 7-0-0 basically means that you need to craft or reconstruct 2 pieces per setup in order to maximize the efficiency and since I'm German, I can not stand inefficiency :). I have done a rough count for my characters. I have 8 active characters that are more or less up to date with their gear. Of those eight characters, seven are wearing two monster sets, while my main char has a lot more to chose from: 7 (Zaan, Maw, Slime, Skoria, Domihaus, Grothdarr, Balorgh). So, 8*4 + 14 = 46 items that need to be transmuted, meaning I need 368 Dreughwax, worth about 3.8 mio gold in order to just keem my ALREADY EXISTING equipment up to date.

Now, I'm playing MMO's for over 20 years and I know that those games are constantly changing. But in this particular case, nothing really changes except ... well... the type of armor you're supposed to wear. This is just on top of the real meta changes such as sets that need to be replaced for good.

I really wonder why the prices for upgrade material like dreugh wax are still rather low and not going through the roof at the moment.

    My guess is that people have their own stock as they were expecting the prices to raise, when the changes were first mentioned - or they are still testing with their existing sets or upgraded only to purple for now.

    Isn't the new CP passive suppose to guarantee double drops from nodes? If so, prices on mats are going to drop significantly.

    18 characters with hireling mail + new Plentiful Harvest and Meticulous Disassembly is extremely helpful in this matter. I'm not the only one who hoarded a crapton of Surveys to take advantage of this boost. Personally I'm sitting on around 300+ of each legendary mats minus Chromium. Though I'm waiting on the Companions update to come around before making any serious decisions as they could be an extra source of set bonus procs and Synergy activations.

    I would contest the fact it is only 7-0-0 for meta. 5-1-1 is still relevant imo.
    Just think what you are missing out on!
    Undaunted passives.
    Heavy Armor passives, the good ones at least 😉
    Mitigation through armor value and passive. Having 3k to 4k more armor is going to make up for the increased specific vulnerability.

    I will keep wearing 5-1-1 for my SOLO Magicka Chars and my PVE health Tank.

    In some Dungeons and Trials, being a glass cannon will simply not be enough to survive.

    I never understand why do we need gold quality armor? Prices aren't going through the roof because there are many like me.

    I'm fine with doing vet trials and pvp with gold/purple armor, gold/purple/blue jewels and gold weapons. Very few need gold only gear.

    Agree, now I gold out jewlery with bloodthirsty but tend to not bother with monster sets, they tend to get nerfed and buffed and its nice to have multiple sets for different uses.
    Grinding just make you go in circles.
    Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    The main reason I was in 5/1/1 was for the +6% to all attributes. Specifically it allowed me the HP to enchant all armor with stam or mag. With the infusion of extra HP, I went to 7/0/0 on five and 5 light / 2 heavy on one magblade. I also did some set changing and monster helm changing. My cost was about 160 dreugh waxes and 200 transmute crystals. Much of it was adjusting to/compensating for the extra health combined with lower crit% and lower penetration. I changed around the six active variants of my character and they are all fine now, although cannot parse as high as before the update. The remaining three are semi-retired and I just can't muster the motivation to log them in and adjust them after the update.
